We are obsessed with this Dutch Oven. It’s made from 100% recycled iron (formerly railroad rails!!!). It’s a great size, not too big, not too small. It’s got a super strong enamel coating. Made in the old sand-cast style. And we have one left in the shop!

Miracle Plum is the brainchild, passion project, and longtime dream of Sallie Miller and Gwen Gunheim. We have aspired to open a neighborhood market. We love the idea of being able to walk to your neighborhood market, pick up a few choice ingredients for a simple dinner. Or grab an exceptional loaf of bread your way to a friends house. Or run down for eggs on a Saturday morning... we think about this little market a lot, and it always feels romantic and necessary. It seems silly to live downtown and have to get in our car and drive for those forgotten weekend eggs.
When a historic and coveted building lost its tenant. We knew it was time. We had our first business meeting that night.
Neither of us has ever taken something like this on before, and in the last year we have had a crash course in business planning, financial projection, research and development, personal relations, branding strategy, navigating the City, flexibility, and moxie to name a few. We have had guidance and encouragement from professional business advisors, business owners, restaurateurs, brand consultants, chefs, friends, and family. One of the most incredible things about this experience so far is the generosity of time and information from so many talented and successful folks.
We got our ducks in a row, i.e. our numbers crunched, and our prospectus polished, and just as we started to talk about our idea and look for investors the fires broke out. All of a sudden this conversation became inappropriate and our attention was diverted. Our goal in starting this business is serving and building community. That means meeting our community where it is, and, until recently that was chiefly to be safe and cared for.
Slowly we, as a community, are rebuilding and revitalizing. We are at the forefront, committed to this project of doing business in Santa Rosa, sourcing local ingredients, hiring folks, and opening our doors. We still need to find investors to make this happen, and our small corner feels a little tapped (understandably). We are extending our reach, looking outside Sonoma County, and relying on folks like you, who may wish to know more about this project and/or to be a bridge. We know community and business revitalization is going to be a priority for many, and we want to be a part of it.
If you would like to know more, take a look at our prospectus, or tell us about the most amazing cheese, tomatoes, or olive oil you've had in Sonoma County, please drop us a line at [email protected]
