Garden update!

Over the last week we’ve gotten all of our veggie and flower starts planted out. I was also able to get in the first succession of carrots, radishes and kohlrabi, as well as the second succession of beets, lettuce, and sunflowers. We do have a few bare spots in the garden but they will fill up soon as we get in more succession plantings.

We are starting to see tomatoes forming and anticipate having cherry tomatoes available in a few short weeks. We are also seeing the first few flower blooms opening up and are excited to see the rows fill in with color.

So far, we are on track to open the farm stand by early July. We will be offering lettuce, kale, carrots, beets, tomatoes, bouquets, and much more over the course of this season. Looking forward to having fresh, locally grown produce available for our community!

Thank you to everyone who came out for the 2026 plant sale! This was the first year having our sale here at the farm and it was a great learning experience. We are already looking forward to next year’s sale and hope to see you all again.

This week has been spent switching gears. Our focus went from the plant sale to planting out our garden. I’ve been working around the heat, trying to get a few trays planted out in the early mornings and evenings. Some of the starts will likely experience transplant shock due to the heat stress but we have the time away from work now, so now is when they are getting planted.

In between planting and other projects, we are trying to take some of our “vacation time” to actually relax and enjoy ourselves around home. We’ve been able to catch up with friends, spend some time on the lake, and do quite a bit of hanging out on the patio.

This evening I was able to slow down enough to pick the first bouquet of the season. Lilacs, columbine, and irises. These spring flowers don’t last long so it was good to be able to bring some inside.

I am looking forward to summer flowers, even more now that I am planting them out. I’m excited to be able to offer bouquets along side our veggies in our farmstand this summer (opening soon!)
