Left Bank Butchery

Left Bank Butchery We are committed to whole animal butchery, using the best meat from local, pasture-raised farms. That's how Left Bank Butchery was hatched.

For years I was fortunate enough to work on two of the best farms in the South, Cane Creek and Braeburn Farm. We often wished that their was a skilled butcher to cut our two-year-old steers, or a talented hand to cure and create with our pigs. Not only that, but I wanted this food to be accessible to the farming community that helped create it. We aim for our shop to be friendly, approachable (don

't worry, we're not hip either), affordable for all budgets, dedicated to sustainable local agriculture, and one that understands the community that is created with food, and that helps create this fun of food.

-Ross Flynn, owner and butcher

We’ve had a lot of calls over the last couple of weeks and wanted to let everyone know that 100% of the cows we bring in are Alamance County local beef. We don’t buy in primals from distributors to pad the case or get extra filets because we’re not about making sure we have enough of a muscle that constitutes 1% of an animal. We buy one and a half to two cows per week from Chad Randleman at Randleman Farm in northern Alamance and we call him directly to order cows and talk about quality. Our beef goes from the farm to Chaudhry Slaughter in Siler City and then delivers to the shop. That’s it. That’s the whole operational flow. We’ll tell you, there’s plenty of great beef being produced in the US and beyond. There’s also plenty of really bad beef being produced. Unless you know your butcher and they know their farmer, assurances are minimal. What we do doesn’t work for most shops and we understand the logistics of that and are grateful for the model we have built. If you want high quality local meat, where you can look at a person and ask questions to your hearts delight, we will continue to be here for you. Thanks for making us the shop we are!

We have a couple of spots open for our cooking class this evening. It’s $55 per person and we will teach how to cook about everything in the case. You also get 10% off anything you purchase from the shop this evening. The class starts at 5 and we usually wrap up around 7. If you would like to join, give us a call at the shop and we’ll pencil you in.

Tonight we bid farewell to “Little” Shane before he heads off to college. We’ve loved having him as part of the Left Bank family and are excited to hear about all the things he’s doing when he comes back around. That giant lazy Susan delivered so much Szechuan fire tonight 🥵

With “Little” Shane departing for college, we are in need of a dishwasher! This could work for a high schooler who wanted to work a few days a week after school or could be a more full time role if someone needed that. We pay well, the hours are great, there is always meat to take home and we’re really very nice folks. PLEASE let anyone who may be interested know. Just give us a call or stop by the shop if you’re interested.

The Left Bank alum road show continues! My boy Nick Tyre took a break from getting a PhD at Virginia Tech to come give some hugs and get some bacon. Some of my most favorite days are when friends drop by for a visit - makes us feel real special.

We get so stoked when a Left Bank alum stops by the shop to say hey! Welcome back to NC, Mia!

We’re looking for a part-time team member to help our front of house at the butchery. Tasks will include serving customers (slicing, basic cutting, merchandising) and some food prep. This job includes Friday, Saturday, and Sundays (although we understand that folks will want to miss occasional weekends).
We have a small, sweet staff. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about food and cooking, who cares about farming, who is fun to work with (we like our jobs, we want to keep it that way), and who can be self-directed. We would love to find someone with experience in the food industry, but that’s not entirely necessary.
Please email the shop if this sounds like something you would be interested in. Hours are likely 24-30 hours/wk. Pay is commensurate with employee’s skillset, but likely will between $18-20/hr (which includes tips). No official benefits, but we eat well. And if this sounds like an awesome job, but you’re looking for full-time hours, please still reach out. Thanks! [email protected]

The rain isn’t going to wash us out and will be outside! If you’re needing some easy food and beverage, we have what you need at the shop. Plenty of wine, with lots of chilled whites, crackers and pimento and sandwiches. We even got a few cases of Casamara Club sodas - the finest NA drink around. Come on out, you’ll be wishing it was this cool in a few weeks!
