🇮🇹 You probably recognize the name… but did you know it started right here in Western PA?

We love finding products with a good story behind them, and this is one we thought was worth sharing.

DeLallo got its start in 1950 as a small Italian market in Jeannette, PA, just outside of Pittsburgh. George and Madeline DeLallo started the business with a love for good food and a belief that what they put on the shelves should be authentic, consistent and worth bringing home to your family.

More than 75 years later, DeLallo is still family owned and has grown into a nationally recognized name for Italian and Mediterranean foods.

Pretty neat for something that started right here in our corner of Pennsylvania. ❤️
And you can find a selection of DeLallo favorites right here at Cattleman’s Pantry — the kind of things that are handy to have around when you want to turn whatever you have at home into a really good meal.

Pasta, sauces, olive oils, antipasti and all those little extras that make Italian night a whole lot better. 🍝🫒

We weren’t sure if we should post anything at all.

There is no photo that could capture the weight of what our community has felt this past week, and there really aren’t words that could do a loss like this justice.
So we’ve been quiet.

We’ve tried to carry on with business as usual — tending to the cattle, opening the store, doing the chores and moving through the ordinary rhythms of our days.

But nothing about the last week has felt ordinary.

The world feels a little dimmer.
The sun doesn’t seem quite as warm.
And the ground beneath this little community we call home feels a little less steady than it did before.

You can feel this loss throughout Scenery Hill and far beyond it — in conversations, in the silence between them, and in the way people are holding their families a little closer.

In a small community, our lives have a way of intertwining. We know each other, our families cross paths, and we see familiar faces everywhere. When something unimaginable happens to one of our own, the whole community feels it.

We didn’t want to insert ourselves into a grief that belongs so deeply to others. But our hearts kept telling us to say something, if only to let these families know that all of us at Vistamont Farms and Cattleman’s Pantry are quietly thinking of you, praying for you and grieving alongside you.

There is nothing we can say to make the hurt smaller. We just hope you know you are not grieving unnoticed.

And for the rest of us, let this be a reminder:

Hug them a little longer.
Make the phone call.
Say “I love you” one more time.

We are never promised another ordinary day.

To the families and friends carrying an unimaginable loss, the first responders and search teams, and our grieving community — our hearts are with you.

We are thinking of you. We are praying for you. And we will continue to do so long after the rest of the world has moved on. 🤍

🇺🇸 A little heads up for Monday!

Cattleman’s Pantry will be closed for Labor Day so our crew can enjoy the holiday with their families. ❤️

If you need Vistamont beef, milk, cheese, snacks, ice cream—or any of your other Pantry favorites for the long weekend—make sure you stop in and stock up beforehand!

We hope everyone has a safe, relaxing Labor Day weekend, hopefully with something good on the grill. 😉🥩

We have some unfortunate news for our bread people… 😭🍞

There will be no Joe’s Bakery bread delivery today.

We know, we know. It’s a sad day at Cattleman’s Pantry too. 😂

If Joe’s bread was part of your plans today, we wanted to give you a heads-up before you made the trip specifically for it.

We’ll let you know when the next batch is headed our way!

In the meantime, there are still plenty of other good things around here to eat your feelings with. 😉😂
