Hang in there Spokane!

Hang in there Spokane!

Spokane is hurting on this Thursday.

It's hard to know what to do in times like these, or how to help, or how to heal. Do we still seek joy, find the small and big things that bring us small and big delight? Do we mourn and settle in to the collective feeling of loss our community is experiencing?

I think the answer is: yes, both.
One thing I know for certain is community is powerful, being known is important, and being together fosters healing.

So- today we are hosting a smaller, safer Thursday Market; to support our farmers who don't get a day off, and depend on selling the fruits of their labor to support their families; to support the community who depend on our market to nourish their bodies and spirits; to offer togetherness to our friends and neighbors impacted in small and big ways by this weeks tragic fires.

We'd love to see your face today, be it brief, be it masked. If you are kept away for whatever reason, please know you are part of our community. And we will get through this, together ❤️‍🩹

See you soon.

🫐 FARMERS MARKET WEEK 🍅 AUGUST 2-8, 2026 🌽

Part of the fun is meeting new vendors every year! Farmers markets are a great way to get a business started and learn how things work.

It's also fun to see vendors who return every season! Nearly 40% have been selling for more than 10 years.

That's dedication! What keeps them coming back? You! And building relationships with customers. Providing your community with healthy food. And being able to receive the full value for all their hard work.

Each purchase may not seem big, but the impacts are huge. For 96% of vendors, farmers market sales are important to their overall income (WSFMA, 2025 Vendor Survey).

These sales have deep local impacts, and are vital to launching new businesses, creating jobs, supplementing and securing livelihoods.

Collectively, WSFMA member farmers markets reported $ 94 million in total vendor sales in 2025.

We are saddened to see the numerous wildfires that have destroyed homes and land throughout the state. While WSDA doesn't have a wildfire recovery fund, we do have information about preparing for and responding to wildfires and have compiled resources for those impacted.
