Effie's Kitchen

My Grandma Effie was my baking inspiration. I was blessed to spend my childhood summers in southwestern Pennsylvania with my grandparents. Our Grandmother was a wonderful cook and baker. While she enjoyed making old time traditional favorites, she also was never afraid to try out a new recipe. I loved being in the kitchen and learning from her. Effie's Kitchen is my small way of honoring my Grandm

other's memory. It has been a great joy recreating some of my Grandma Effie's favorite recipes and discovering new food items. As a returning mature student, I had the wonderful opportunity to study Culinary Arts as well as Hotel and Restaurant Management at Schenectady County Community College. I was able to improve my skill set as well as learn new skills and techniques. Attending college the second time around as an adult with a spouse, children and a job was a challenge, but it was an incredible experience. Additionally, I am Serv Safe certified, currently employed as a youth educator, and enjoy working in the kitchen with young people. Effie's Kitchen is a scratch bakery that bakes in small batches to ensure that all of our products are made fresh for you. We use as many fresh, local products as possible in our baking.
