"Cannizzaro Piccata" is a bright, zesty Italian classic made effortless with Cannizzaro Piccata Sauce. (BUY IT HERE!) This sauce is gluten free and has no added sugars!
Enjoy this 15-minute recipe which uses just a jar of the pre-made sauce, lemon slices, and butter to create a rich, tangy glaze over seared chicken cutlets, shrimp, or salmon.
Ingredients
Protein: 1 lb chicken cutlets, peeled & deveined shrimp, or salmon filets
Sauce: 1 jar Cannizzaro Piccata Sauce
Pan Sauté: 2 Tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
Finishing: 1-2 Tbsp unsalted butter and thin lemon slices
Garnish: Fresh chopped parsley
Step-by-Step Instructions
Sear the Protein: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. If using chicken, lightly season and sauté for 3-4 minutes per side until golden and cooked through, then remove and set aside. If using shrimp, sauté for 4-5 minutes, flipping once, and remove before it overcooks.
Build the Sauce: Lower the heat to medium. Pour the jar of Cannizzaro Piccata Sauce into the skillet.
Simmer: Add your butter and lemon slices to the sauce. Let it simmer gently for 2-3 minutes so the flavors meld together.
Combine & Serve: Return your cooked protein to the pan and spoon the warm piccata sauce over it. Simmer for 1-2 more minutes, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve.
Serving Suggestions
Serve the finished protein over angel hair pasta, or keep it light and low-carb by using zucchini noodles directly tossed into the sauce.
Jazz it up with add-ins like artichoke hearts, cherry tomatoes, or mushrooms right before adding the sauce.
