If you made it to the Sequim Prairie Grange today to the Rain Shadow Artisan Groups Art Fair, what with everything else going on for Lavender Weekend, we were delighted to see you. If not, maybe next time. I sincerely hope that whatever you prioritized to do (because there is just sooo much to do) was interesting, rewarding and lots of fun. We had some "community service" type activities going on today (It's part of what Rain Shadow Artisans is all about) and they were noteworthy! Meet Wes and his sister Ella. These two spent the entire day with our expert volunteer Dave at the "art table" doing some watercolor activities. The program was designed to be engaging, instructive, yes, but 6 year old Wes decided it should become a business opportunity...and so he and his sister sold painting after painting on 4x6 stock for a dollar a piece. This dynamic duo just might have made more $$$ for their craftmanship and entrepreneurship this weekend than the entire Lavender Industry! (Just kidding, but seriously they did an awesome, awesome job of making and selling art- and isn't that just the point!). It was a good day for us; but it was a great day for them. Making a few bucks, promoting the arts, getting another generation engaged in the whole process is what this artisan group strives for. By those standards, and by the standard of what REALLY matters, today was a total success! And isn't that just the point!
I will add this personal note. This six year old child that I never met before today reminded me of my son, Derek Gundy, Artist & Illustrator when he was the same age. Talented beyond his years and experience and destined for success where success is hard to come by. It may be difficult at times to find the real value and meaning in this life, but sometimes, like today, it all comes in to focus....
Oh I almost forgot to add the most important part of this post. Tomorrow is Marilyn's birthday! (yes she is a crab (Cancer). I was proud to be able to purchase this crab painting from WES for one dollar ($1USD). I made sure he signed it! I have no doubt in my mind it will be worth a fortune when he makes it big somewhere down the road. But for today and as Marilyn's birthday present this year- it is already priceless :-)

How can I get my hands on some of that terrific lavender of yours?
I'm glad you asked-
You can come to the Sequim Prairie Grange between 10 and 3 this Saturday, July 18. There you can buy fresh lavender bunches for $6 each, or get 5 for $25 or even get one FREE if you spend 20 dollars or more on our full line of products. You can also buy lavender sachets, lavender essential oil or any of the other products that incorporate our fine lavender. We will also have our leather and feather wrapped rocks, ceremonial feather fans, felted vessels, tapestries and "wool paintings." And our organically grown catnip; you can't forget the catnip!!! :-)

We're out in the Lavender and Crocosmia patch harvesting our "FREE Lavender bundles with a $20.00 purchase" for our show tomorrow at Sequim Prairie Grange. 10-3. Do hope you'll drop by! We KNOW this is the best price on a lavender bunch in this whole town :-)
