Happy Monday!

How was your weekend? Mine was not too bad. We survived Snowmaggedon. Pretty crisp out there today though. Tomorrow is not supposed to be any better either. Ah, but Wednesday the warm-up begins! Hopefully this will be our last round of bitter cold for the season!

Well, it is official. Sprouting Out (our Shafer location) is now closed. But not to worry! We still have locations in Pine City and North Branch ready to take on the displaced shoppers from Shafer! And, North Branch will now be open on Sundays, starting next Sunday!

Between now and then, we have produce baskets to think about! This week we are featuring some less common and under appreciated citrus like grapefruit, kumquats, and mango oranges along side of some very underrated veggies like eggplant, rutabaga, and beets. We are including several recipes this time around to help you appreciate the veggies too! Call or email us by 6pm Tuesday if you would like to show some loved to these under-loved but fantastic varieties!

Happy Friday!

It's been a hot minute since I have had a chance to post! Change makes for busy times. And there are big changes happening right now. This will be our last weekend in Shafer. Sprouting Out will close it's doors at 4pm on Sunday. Sprouted Branch will be open on Sundays beginning on March 22nd. And Pine City will be getting some much needed refrigeration! Lots of changes.

To all of our Shafer customers - thank you so much for your support. It means a lot to us. We truly hope you will come visit us in Pine City or North Branch. If you shop North Branch on your usual shopping day you will even be able to see your regular smiling, helpful cashier!

Hello!

How was your evening? Do anything fun? Me? Not so much! I spent 4+hours trying to untangle and roll up 314 yards of yarn that my dog apparently decided was a great toy. Or maybe she was just trying to pay me back for not taking her along when I left the house. Either way, she found herself on the receiving end of a very stern lecture and a shaming glare. Ah, well today is a new day. Hopefully one in which she decides to behave better. We shall see when I get home.

In the meantime there is work to be done. Including locating the promised recipe for potato leek soup that is to accompany the potatoes and leeks in this week's oh-so-Irish produce baskets. Other contents include cabbage(of course!), carrots, apples and berries! Plus, we will have a new shipment of Beeler hams and yummy looking corned beef briskets available as well to round out you St. Paddy's Day meal plan! Reach out by 6pm today and we will add you to the list for a Thursday produce basket!

Good Morning!

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend. I was lucky enough to be invited to a birthday party involving pizza on Friday. And on Saturday I got to attend Hort Day. The keynote speaker talked about bugs and when you actually have to worry a out them. My first class was about succulents and how little care they need, and the second class was about how simple it is to grow a hydroponic garden. All three totally validated my lazy gardening style. Perfect!

But now it is time to get back to work! Part of which includes letting you know what is in this week's basket. We are doing a slight twist on traditional St. Patrick's Day basket. Since we just had pears we will leave those out this year and have a couple of different berries along side the apples. And in addition to the cabbage, carrots, and taters, this year we are including leeks. With a recipe for another Irish tradition - potato leek soup! Call or email before 6pm Tuesday if you would like to get in on this week's basket.

Happy Friday!

Any big plans for the weekend? Tomorrow is Hort day in Pine City, so I plan to be immersed in all things gardening. But the store will still be open for business. And guess what we have? Corned Beef!! We were only able to get a limited supply, so don't wait too long! I can't believe it is almost St. Patrick's Day already! Next week's produce basket will be all about getting you ready to get your Irish on with potatoes, carrots, cabbage, apples, berries, and more!

Hello!

Hope your morning is going great! Just want to send out a quick reminder about this week's produce basket. We are focusing on all things green! We are looking at kiwi, mini watermelon, pears, asparagus, broccoli, and snap peas. And of course your choice if salad greens! $25 for a small, $45 for a large. Call or email by 6pm today, and we will have a basket ready for you on Thursday!

Good Morning!

Hope everyone had a good weekend. It was a bit chilly, but otherwise not bad. Can't believe it is March already! St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner. Got me thinking green thoughts.
As in this week's produce basket. We are looking forward to broccoli, snap peas, asparagus, (hoping to redeem myself after the last batch!), kiwi, pears, and mini watermelon. Don't worry, the plan is to bring the taters and cabbage next week. And guess what? We will actually have corned beef again this year! Should be here on Wednesday! Let us know by 6pm Tuesday if you would like a basket this week.

Happy Friday!

We have some pretty big news to share with you. The Shafer location will be closing. WE ARE NOT GOING OUT OF BUSINESS!! After careful consideration and a lot of soul searching we have come to the conclusion that it is not feasible to keep three locations. Sprouting Out's last day of business will be Sunday March 15th. After that, please visit us at Sprouted Branch in North Branch. You will find the same products, and the same smiling faces if you come on your normal day! Yes, starting on March 22nd NORTH BRANCH WILL BE OPEN ON SUNDAY! Of course, you are always more than welcome to come see us in Pine City as well!

Good Morning!

Could have done without the winter ick this morning. But at least it should be warm this afternoon. And cold tomorrow. Then warm. Then cold again. Mother Nature really is bipolar!

But we can help warm things up with a salsa/pico/guac basket! This week's baskets contain all sorts of goodies for making these tasty treats. From tomatoes to peppers to cilantro and beyond. Plus we have pineapple, lime, and mango just to sweeten the deal! Baskets can be ordered by calling or emailing before 6pm today. They will be available for pick p any time after 9am Thursday.

Hello!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! I spent most of the day yesterday watching some of the speakers from an herbal conference. (Thank you Brit for the heads up!) Some really good information. I could actually spend time on this because for once I already had a plan in place for the produce baskets.

Since Mother Nature felt compelled to pull the rug out from underneath us, this week we are going to make our own heat! In the form of salsa/guac/pico! Baskets this week will include lots of goodies like avocado, tomato, peppers, cilantro, onion, pineapple, mango, and limes! Small baskets are just $25, and larges are only $45! Simply call or email before 6pm Tuesday and we will have a basket ready for you on Thursday!
