Largest Egg producer in the US detects Bird Flu At Texas Plant

Cal-Maine Foods said it culled about 1.6 million hens and 337,000 pullets (young hens) after some of its chickens at a Pramer County, Texas, facility tested positive for highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), caused by influenza A viruses that spread widely among wild and domestic birds.

Its actually a sad thing 😔 all those poor babies but I had to post this picture 📸 as its just to funny not to share 🩷

So today my last cow from my original family farm with my mom and sisters had a calf. He is a Milking Shorthorn(Dairy) and half Maine Anjou(Beef). He is a big strapping lad and has been named by the chicken tender himself, who might now be called the beef cake lol. Meet Brownie the newest little addition to the place

The Chicken Tender wears many hats! He was a flower presenter to the beautiful ladies of the Mercer Co Dairy Promotion, chicken p**p pusher at Desstined Farm Free-Range Eggs, preschooler extrodinaire, and future soccer star(if he stays off the grass and the other players). He truly is a little Jack of all trades lol!!!
We are pleased to say he has 3 cousins on the Dairy Promotion from the Dairy Princess all the way down to a Dairy Lil Miss!!!

So exactly a year ago we started selling our eggs at D'Onofrios. A lot has changed the girls moved uptown lol like the Jefferson's. August is such a big help and we have added a lot of new chickens. Hope this next year is as awesome as this past one has been.God Bless Each and Everyone of You!!!

Betty Blue is a red and black chicken with blue ears. The ears are how we know which color egg the chicken will lay. We have blue, green, brown, and white layers. Brown egg layers have red ears they don't follow the pattern. We only have two blue egg layers but love seeing these blue ears 💙
