Another beloved recipe coming your way—an employee and family favorite! Mongolian Beef.....
Perfect for those chilly fall/winter nights… and yes, it also comes with a story. 😊
✨The Backstory:
Picture it: March 2020. The world shuts down, and our store is suddenly closed to in-person shopping. Curbside only. Phones ringing nonstop. You know that commercial where they yell “RUN!”? That was our staff—literally sprinting to fill the wave of orders.

With everyone working so diligently, we tried to make lunch in-house so no one had to worry about bringing food. We found this recipe online and asked the crew if they wanted it the next day. Well…it was a cold, rainy, miserable March day, and one of our young meat cutters practically ran to prep the meat because he wanted this dish so badly. 😂

We cooked a double batch that evening, brought the slow cooker in the next morning, plugged it in first thing, and let it go for about 5–6 hours.About 8 hours total as it was a double batch
When lunchtime hit?
They. Scarfed. It.
And just like that, it became a regular staple.
So here it is… our Slow Cooker Mongolian Beef recipe—straight from our kitchen to yours. ❤️
🥢 Slow Cooker Mongolian Beef
This takes minutes to throw together and has incredible flavor!
Ingredients:
1 ½ pounds flank steak
¼ cup cornstarch
2 Tbsp olive oil
½ tsp minced garlic ( We used the dried kind)
¾ cup soy sauce
¾ cup water
¾ cup brown sugar ( it was a 'generous sized 3/4. )
1 cup grated carrots (Hint add in last hour, or they 'disappear')
Green onions, for garnish
Instructions:
Slice flank steak into thin strips. Place into a Ziploc bag with cornstarch and shake to coat. ( 45 degree angle against the grain, and yes, our staff can do it for you)
Add olive oil, garlic, soy sauce, water, brown sugar, and carrots to your slow cooker. Stir. Add the coated flank steak and stir again to cover everything in sauce.
Cook on high 2–3 hours or low 4–5 hours until tender.* we preferred the low and slow method.
Serve over rice and garnish with sliced green onions.

It’s time… the ALL-TIME favorite Boneless Turkey Breast recipe post!
Yes, the recipe we make dozens of copies of to hand out at the store every Thanksgiving. And yes… the one we’ve shared before. But before we hand it over, here’s the real story behind it. 👇🦃

Picture this: Thanksgiving Day, years ago. Our family always headed north to the in-laws who handled the entire meal (because let’s be honest—we were tired 😅). We stopped for gas, feeling guilty they were working on the holiday, and asked the gas station crew what they were doing for Thanksgiving.

And that’s when it happened…
They gave us a quick crockpot turkey recipe. In. A. Gas. Station. 🚗⛽️🦃

Being polite, we said thanks and tucked it away. A couple weeks later, we actually made it. But—plot twist—we grabbed the wrong soup mix at the store.

And wouldn’t you know…
It was AMAZING. Moist, juicy, tender, flavorful turkey in a crockpot.
Who knew?! 🤯

We lovingly called it “Barb’s Screwed-Up Turkey Recipe” for years.
But today, it’s officially known as Ken’s Favorite.

✨ The difference?
The original recipe called for onion soup mix.
The accidental hero was Knorr Vegetable Soup Mix—and after later testing both, the vegetable mix still wins by a landslide.

Alright… ready?
Here’s the famous recipe:

Ken’s Favorite Crockpot Turkey Breast (aka Barb’s Screwed-Up Recipe)
Ingredients:
• 1 boneless turkey breast
• 2 cups chicken broth
• 1 packet Mix (NOT onion!)
Instructions:
Place turkey breast in a crockpot.
Add chicken broth.
Sprinkle the soup mix on top.
Cook on high ~4 hours or on low ~5 hours. Size of breast will make a difference.
Internal meat temp should reach 160°F.

That’s it! Seriously. Super simple. Super delicious.
Enjoy—and let us know if it becomes a favorite in your house, too! 🧡🦃✨
