Another update on the rebuilding of the shop. All refrigeration and heating units are back up and running at 100%. Working on the floor sealing and scraping the burnt sections of wood. Should have plenty of time to be ready for animals just after the Marias Fair!

Update on the shop.
Progress is being made rebuilding after our small fire earlier this spring. We are taking the time to reseal the entire building from floor to ceiling. Walls have been scrubbed down and the ceiling in the cutting area has been painted. Currently working on prepping the floor for a new sealant coating. I intend to reopen the shop before the conclusion of the local fair in mid July. Thank you all for your continued support.

Close but no connection today. Found a lone bull away from the herd. Stalked to 110 yards and his head and vitals were behind a lone spruce tree. Tried to get a bit closer but had to cross some shake rock. Try as I might I could not do so quietly and the bull heard me. He peeked his head out from behind the tree and saw me. He turned and kept the tree between as he moved away slowly. When he cleared the tree he was broadside at the far edge of my range so I took the shot. Followed him to his tracks and found no blood, a clean miss. That is the challenge of black powder hunting. Would have been a chip shot with a modern rifle.

Best I could do was 375 yards. Need to be 125 or under to effectively use the smoke pole. Decided to not blow them out and try again tomorrow morning. Saw at least 40 bulls in the hills today so I am hopeful!

Good luck to all those taking to the woods with their muzzleloaders tomorrow. Jeremiah Terrell will be out with a 50 caliber Hawkin looking for elk. Get close and shoot straight!

That is an official wrap up to the general rifle season. We will be accepting game meat as long as hunters keep bringing it in. We will be available during all extended seasons including the muzzleloader season as well as all shoulder hunts. We are back to operating Monday thru Friday 8 am until 5 pm with weekends as our days off. Thank you to all our customers on a great season.
