Melissa Blakeman has always loved baking. At 8 years old she asked for a Kitchen Aid for Christmas, and she has been learning and baking and creating ever since! What started out as baking for friends and family grew into a collaboration with her friend Shannon, another vendor at the Farmers’ Market, and their first business together “Redeemed Roses”

Sweets by Melissa is not only one of the core members of the Shelby County Farmers Market (Melissa also volunteers as a member of the board), but she also now has her own porch pickup location for her customers to pick up treats throughout the week.

Melissa’s baking is fun and colorful, and reflective of her most favorite job as a stay at home mom to her four children. I especially love the way she packages her goodies, like the little “Cake Tacos” that look like a carryout of a savory meal, and her bright blue “Cookie Monster” cookies!
