Let’s give it up for the hardworking crew! Today they planted sweet potatoes, celeriac, and a portion of the leeks. Personally, leek planting is one of my least favorite tasks in all of farming - it’s tedious and endless. No one ever complains of a sore back, or makes a face or comment when asked to do anything around here, no matter the weather or circumstances. It takes a village and we’re grateful for ours!

We love when new offerings are ready for harvest! Basil, spinach, napa cabbage, kale, and romaine are now available. 💚

A necessary part of planting is replanting! Sometimes the roots don’t take, or the leaves dry up from laying on the black plastic, or the weather isn’t kind. Whatever the reason, we usually go back through and replace anything that won’t make it. Here are Eric and Jona providing quality control to the tomatillos so we can all enjoy some salsa verde this season.

Eric’s potting up new kale, sunflowers, and dill for a continuation of our seedling sale - ongoing every day! Plenty of tomatoes, peppers, basil, lettuce, summer squash, and more to get your gardens growing this season.

And despite the disappointing forecast, we’ll still be at the Shelton Farmers’ Market on Saturday from 9-12 and stocked here at the farm daily with gorgeous lettuce, escarole, arugula, leeks, Asian greens, and more!

Hanging baskets are still on sale for $15 each and you can grab a sample of Pan De Oro tortilla chips here while you’re at it. Support your local family farm!

Heat wave! Despite the uncomfortable temperatures, our staff will continue to snip, bunch, and wash each leafy green by hand this week. Every purchase here directly thanks them for their hard work!

Lettuce, escarole, arugula, bok choy, leeks, and more will be available. Seedlings are also available every day through early June. Hanging baskets are $15 each through Sunday. We’ll also be sampling Pan de Oro chips every day through Sunday.

It’s the perfect week to get in the garden, enjoy flowers on your deck, dine al fresco, and (as always) support your local farmers. 💚

Valued crew member Steve has retired from working farmers’ markets for us. While we will miss him a lot, we are also blessed that crew member Jona was excited to fill the role. The Shelton Farmers’ Market begins this Saturday, May 16th and runs every Saturday through October from 9-12 at 100 Canal Street. Say hello to Jona and pick up some lettuce, arugula, leeks, scallions, escarole, flower baskets, and more this weekend!
