Spring has returned to the ranch🌸 Birds are chirping, precious baby calves are toddling around, and the rolling hills are greening up with lusciuos green grasses. There are innumerable things that make this land special, but the grasses are really the lifeblood of the place, part of the ancient cycle that sustains the herd that sustains all of us.
Here on the ranch, we have the Big 4 all-stars:
🌾Big Bluestem, aka the King of the Prairie, rich in magnesium and potassium
🌾Indiangrass, full of protein and micronutrients
🌾Switchgrass, with its 10-foot roots drawing up trace minerals not accessed by most
🌾Little Bluestem, dense forage packed with energy and vitality
These grasses are so much more than just feed; they’re a living system and our way as humans to access and connect with the power of nourishing minerals, the sun’s warm rays, and pure rainwater—all things that’ll never be found in a bag of grain or in the walls of a feedlot!
A lot has changed in the world since our last season, but our commitment remains steadfast:
