🍅 A little tomato season update from the farm…
Mother Nature has definitely made us work for our tomato crop this year! With the amount of rain and moisture we’ve had, our plants are beginning to reach their limit, which means our large-quantity tomato orders will soon be coming to an end for the season.
We are still picking and filling some orders as the fields allow, but we also want to be transparent about another challenge we’re seeing this year. Because of the excessive moisture, some tomatoes are breaking down and spoiling much faster after they’re picked than they normally would.
We sort through our tomatoes every single day and do our very best to make sure you’re receiving good-quality produce. But tomatoes are a fresh, perishable product, and occasionally one can look perfectly fine when it goes into a box and deteriorate quickly afterward, especially in a season like this one.
Please know that we would never knowingly send someone home with poor-quality produce. We take a lot of pride in what we grow and what leaves our market.
If you purchase tomatoes from us and find that there is a quality issue, please call us or stop in and talk with us. Give us the opportunity to make it right. We’re always happy to work with our customers when there is a genuine problem.
Farming means working with the season we’re given, and this year has certainly tested us with rain! We’re incredibly thankful for everyone who has purchased tomatoes, canned sauce and salsa, picked their own, and supported our farm this season. ❤️
We’ll keep picking the good ones as long as Mother Nature lets us!
