Certified Organic Free Range Eggs Thanks for taking the time to learn more about New Century Farm eggs. We're a small, family-owned and run operation since 1995.
Our goal is to deliver the highest quality, healthiest eggs possible with the least negative impact on the environment. Our commitment to the organic principle starts the day baby chicks arrive at our farm. They're fed a ration of certified organic corn and soybeans, along with a special mix containing vitamins and minerals. Chickens are never fed antibiotics or any other drug or additive. As also
required by organic standards, chickens are never kept in cages and have access to outdoor fields when weather allows. Each of our chickens are given at least one and a half square feet of building space, twice as much space as most conventional caged egg operations. Why Organic? Our interest in organic farming developed many years ago as a grain farmer in Iowa. I and several of my family members and friends have been affected by accidents from using or being exposed to farm chemicals. I vowed to do what I could in my lifetime to eliminate these toxic chemicals and fertilizers. We grow most of our own grains, and support our local community by buying exclusively organic grain. In addition to farming without chemicals, we do not use genetically engineered seeds. We're proud to say that organic practices such as use of crop rotations also reduces runoff and resulting pollution of streams and lakes. One of the unexpected benefits of using organic feeds is the health of our chickens. Many people believe, and we agree, that organically raised crops are more nutritious. We believe conventional “factory farms” have been forced to use antibiotics because of crowded conditions that promote poor air quality and because conventional grains are missing the correct balance of the essential nutrients all animals and humans require to support a healthy immune system. Under a “holistic” approach to food production it also follows that the food produced by organically grown livestock will provide a healthy balance of all nutrients as nature intended. Because we use no antibiotics throughout the life of our hens, our eggs do not contribute to the growing problem of antibiotic resistance in human diseases. What About Food Safety? Our operation is inspected and licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture. Eggs are stored and delivered at under 40 degrees to inhibit bacterial growth. We recommend all consumers keep eggs refrigerated and properly cook egg products to further avoid food borne-illness. What About Taste? People had been telling us that eggs just don't taste as good as they used to. Now we're happy to report that you can once again enjoy the flavor and quality of eggs your parents and grandparents enjoyed. Eggs are like all other perishable produce - freshness is best. Our motto is “If you want a fresher egg, you'll have to get your own chickens.”

We love our restaurant partners, and Marigold Kitchen is at the top of that list! All of their food is incredible, but their omelettes are our favorite! Granted, we may be a little biased… 😉

It’s back to school for our kids and back to the pasture for our hens!

Meet our amazing driver, Jay! He's not only at the heart of our company, he's also the face of it! A local to the Shullsburg area, Jay, like the eggs he delivers, is as local as organic gets!

Wishing all of our New Century friends a happy and safe 4th of July!

When Dean handed off New Century to Elmer, he didn’t just hand off the hens and farm, he handed off his legacy of organic farming, humane treatment of the hens, locally sourced products, sustainability, and a good joke or two 😉. It’s a legacy that continues on today.

Dean has a passion for Organic agriculture, and as he has gotten older, he wanted to be free to focus solely on the grain aspect of his farming. In 2017 he transitioned the sales and distribution business of New Century Organic Eggs over to me, Ryan. I have known Dean for over 10 years and always admired the work he was doing on his farm to further the Organic cause so when we discussed a transition, I wanted to carry on that tradition of organic egg production from family farming.
Early in 2019 the egg production aspect transitioned to Elmer and his family. They have moved onto the farm and are continuing to take care of the hens and produce the eggs in the same way as Dean and Mary. The eggs are produced in the same barns, with the same type of high-quality organic feed, and by a family farmer just like before.
Now Dean is free to really focus on grain production without having to worry about the day to day of egg production and distribution. Periodically, Dean can be found stopping by the farm to see how things are going and provide some pointers on the best ways to produce organic eggs.
Thanks for taking the time to learn about our eggs and know that purchasing them sustains a better food system for you, the land, the hens, and the producer.
Ryan
