Do you have clay soil but dream of a beautiful, productive garden? Here’s our simple method that’s transforming our beds naturally…

Last fall, Silver Lake, Indiana dropped off leaves collected during their seasonal leaf cleanup. We spread those leaves thickly over our garden beds and covered them with tarps for the winter. Let the worms and centipedes do the rest.

Today, we’re running our flail mower over the beds to finely chop the leaves right in place — creating instant garden beds packed with organic matter.

No tilling needed, which means we’re not bringing buried w**d seeds back to the surface. Just rich, healthy soil that will grow stronger, healthier produce naturally.

Here’s what we’re harvesting for farmers market tomorrow The Farmers Market at Winona. We will also have a full display of tomatoes, sweet and hot pepper plants 🪴and potted herbs, cucumber and zucchini plants. All organically grown on our farm. Mows the time to get your garden in!

We bribed the kids with a trip to rocketfizzwinona and nicodemus_enterprises if they would help plant. 1 hour later🕰️: 5 beds prepped and planted. 96 tomato plants and 230 pickling cucumbers 🥒 .

If you ordered plants from us at DenneyFarms.com, plant delivery is tomorrow TUESDAY, MAY 12th! 🪴

Plants will be watered before delivery.

Unfortunately the weather changed and it won’t be safe to plant on Tuesday (due to the overnight temperatures). Wednesday or after will be safe to plant though.

** the online plant store is now closed. However we will have a lovely selection of garden plants at The Farmers Market at Winona on Saturday 8-1pm. 🙂
