I love our October specials at The Skandia Farmers Market because the local meat is raised by the wonderful 4-H youth. We source as many products as we can but the care and dedication the kids put into their projects make these dinners that much more special. The chickens were raised by two great young ladies and we are proud to feature both quesadillas and wraps on our menu this week.

Quesadillas loaded up with melted cheese, local chicken, peppers and onions on a grilled tortilla.

Another 4-H special at this weeks The Skandia Farmers Market . Last week it was a champion lamb and this week these beautiful market chicken raised by Ashlynn Peterson.

We will have Chicken Caesar Wraps and Chicken Bacon Ranch Wraps for the special. We will also have our whole regular burger and fry menu. Come shop our vendors while we cook dinner for you.

4-H Meat share pickup will also be happening so if you already purchased a share watch for a text from me about pickup! We still have a few shares left if you want a part of these great 4-H projects.

We are proud to have purchased Amber Shaw’s last 4-H market goat at the UP State Fair. Amber moved to this community only a few years ago but quickly became involved. She worked for us at the store, volunteered at Skandia Days, is a volunteer coach for Skandia T-Ball And Baseball, and is one of the cooks that helps serve delicious locally sourced dinners at The Skandia Farmers Market .

People like Amber help small town communities like ours thrive and we are so glad we got to support her at the livestock auction.

Our special at The Skandia Farmers Market tomorrow night from 4-7 pm is going to be a great one.

We are proud to feature a Greek Lamb Burger. The lamb was the Reserve Champion Lamb shown by Joshua Brutto that we purchased at the Marquette County Fair 4-H Livestock Auction. Josh worked hard all spring and summer building muscle on his lamb by running up and down hills on his family’s property. His hard work paid off in the shown ring. Come join us at the Market Wednesday from 4-7pm to try our special or one of of our other menu items.

If you’re from Skandia you know who this guy is! Landon has been one of our best customers since we purchased the store, so we were very happy to be able to support him in purchasing his market hog. He did a tremendous job showing and was even more impressive in the way he showed up to support everyone else during the week. This is not a surprise considering his family and how they show up to help whenever anyone is in need. His hog will be available for purchase at the store by Sept 9th and you can pre-purchase a share by contacting us.

If you would like to support Landon and other 4-h Kids they will be at Lafaro’s Market tomorrow morning selling discount cards.

2 hours until The Skandia Farmers Market . We are back from the fair and ready to cook for you. All our normal burger and hand cut fry options as well as something a little spicy for the special tonight.

We also have lots of sweet corn and other vegetables too!

We are Back from the UP State Fair and will be bringing some of the fantastic animals that were raised in Skandia with us, to be sold in our store or put in the community share baskets.
Gavin for the 2nd year in a row raised the Grand Champion Lamb. This is an incredible accomplishment that takes so much hard work and dedication from him and his family.
Gavin is one of the many kids we purchased an animal from in the past week and we will try to highlight them in the coming days. If you would like to buy a share of these blue ribbon animals, message the store. We are expecting by Sept 9th we will have the meat for sale in our store.
