As we walked through the orchard fertilizing the chestnut trees, we are seeing them leaf out more and more each day. It is a wonderful sight.

Unfortunately, we also found some signs of ambrosia beetles in 25 of our 350 trees. Our worst attack to date. Hopefully, they will not attack anymore trees this year.

It is springtime on the farm in southwest Mississippi. The deer have finished hooking their antlers on the trees. The bark protectors are being removed so the trees can get their spring time pruning. We are spraying for ambrosia beetles to hopefully protect the trees from infestation. We are ready for the trees to start budding out. Looking forward to a nice harvest.

Our chestnut season is over. We produced 150 pounds our first year and met some very nice people who purchased our chestnuts. Looking forward to next year.

This is one of our producing trees. Last year we made 15 lbs total from our older trees (our first harvest ever🙂). This year we hope to get around 100 lbs if all burs were pollinated on the roughly 100 trees with burs. Harvest time is coming soon. We will ship some chestnuts and do a you pick if you want to visit the farm.
