This week has seen some big changes, including the end of an era! We milked cows in our barn for the last time on Thursday, ending 90 years and 4 generations of DeJager dairy farming. It’s been a sad week of lasts- the last time turning cows in and out of the tie stalls, the last milk pickup, the last time hearing the vacuum pump go through its cycles and the uncoordinated pulsing of the milkers, and the list goes on.
Though this is the end of one era, it’s also the beginning of a new one! We now begin our new full time adventure in the beef industry!🥩 With that, it has also been a week of firsts- our first time actually trying to get a calf to drink from her mom, our first time letting cows and calves free roam through the barn, and our first time treating our heifers to the best feed we have, which used to be for the milk cows. Change can be scary, but it can also be exciting. We are excited to begin this new journey that can provide for us, provide time for us to grow our other businesses, and provide us more time to relax and enjoy life a little more.
If you’d like to support us as we begin our new venture, we still have plenty of shares of beef 🥩 available, some as soon as September! And don’t forget about our maple syrup 🍁 either! Syrup can be bought and shipped and beef can be reserved easily, right from our website: bottlehillmapleandbeef.com! Want to stop in for a visit? Pumpkin season is right around the corner and we would love to see you at Matt's Hilltop Harvest! Lots of big changes are in store for this fall and we cannot wait to share them all with you! 🎃🌻
We would like to send a huge thank you to everyone who has stood behind us and supported us to this point, you are appreciated!
