Hello Friends!
To us, June means kicking off outdoor grilling season and celebrating grads & dads. Whether you're hosting barbecues or packing coastal picnics, our ultra-premium olive oils and balsamics are a perfect companion. Before grilling, I love marinating steak, chicken or fish in one of our flavored olive oils to enhance the flavor of the finished dish. The Olive Wood Smoked Olive Oil is also a particular favorite this time of year and is featured in our Flavors of the Month. Plus, we really happy to announce the the super popular Watermelon Rose' Balsamic is available again! We'll carry it for a few months on our "specialty" shelf.

Other immediate news includes that today, June 6, there is a parade in Snohomish that starts at 10am on First Street. Normally, it is finished by the time we open at 11am, but if not, the officer at the intersection can let you access our parking lot.

Also, we're very pleased that today, June 6th, from 11am - 5pm we are offering a Flavor & Fashion Pop-Up. Leslie Case, who owns Cabi clothing, and is a friend in the Snohomish Chamber, is presenting her clothing line at our shop, so when you come in to stock up on your oil & balsamics be sure to check out her high-end clothing options. She'll be on-site to answer any questions. Come by and check it out!

I hope you have a delightful June filled with family gatherings as you celebrate those special grads & dads in your life. We look forward to seeing you in our shop soon.

If you're here only for the recipes, head straight towards the end of this message to explore some tasty ones. Many more are on our website at abitoftaste.com/recipes.

Warmly,
Debe & the team at A Bit of Taste

Extra Virgin Olive Oil update: Our ultra-premium extra virgin olive oil table is always changing with the freshest olive oils available. A few new olive oils from the northern hemisphere have arrived. They are on our website, and listed below. Please check at abitoftaste.com, or call or email, if you'd like the latest information.

Great news: Our highest biophenol EVOO is the newly arrived organic Chetoui EVOO (https://www.abitoftaste.com/product/chetoui-evoo-organic/215?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=19) , with 733 ppm. This oil is reminiscent of a Northern Italian style and displays a spectacularly aromatic nose with savory notes of wheatgrass, artichoke heart and ample bitterness. It is sure to please those of you who like a robust style of olive oil.

A new Portuguese Koroneiki (https://www.abitoftaste.com/product/koroneiki-evoo-robust/50) EVOO from the current crush is now available and we also have a robust Picual (https://www.abitoftaste.com/product/picual-evoo-robust/245) .

We also have Arbequina (https://www.abitoftaste.com/product/arbequina-evoo-mild-to-medium/153?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=19) , Barnea (https://www.abitoftaste.com/product/barnea-evoo/188?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=19) , Frantoio (https://www.abitoftaste.com/product/frantoio-evoo-medium/713?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=19) , and Coratina (https://www.abitoftaste.com/product/coratina-evoo-medium/159?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=19) EVOO's available. And a new mild Arbosana (https://www.abitoftaste.com/product/arbosana-evoo-mild-/500) arrived recently.

~ Good News! The very popular Watermelon Rose' Balsamic (https://www.abitoftaste.com/product/watermelon-rose-balsamic/LQCJBE3QZKRBMH3LHI5WIBRZ) is back! We plan to carry this for a few months since it was so popular last year. Our favorite pairing with it is our Persian Lime Olive Oil.

Did your favorite olive oil or balsamic disappear?

Every now and then, our supplier will discontinue a flavor so we can no longer stock it. What are you to do when you come in to replace your stash and it's gone? Here are some items we can no longer get/stock and their best substitution.

~ Lavendar Dark Balsamic: it's unique, so best substitution is Traditional Dark Balsamic
~ Elderberry Dark Balsamic: Raspberry or Black Cherry Dark Balsamic
~ Black Currant Dark Balsamic: Raspberry or Black Cherry Dark Balsamic
~ Umeboshi Plum White Balsamic: Elderflower, Apricot or Peach White Balsamic
~ Mani Orange Olive Oil: Blood Orange Olive Oil
~ Pinot Noir Specialty Vinegar: Lambrusco Wine Vinegar
~ Serrano Honey Vinegar: nothing like it, so best substitution is a mix of Honey Ginger White Balsamic and Jalapeno White Balsamic
~ Thyme, Sage, and Oregano Olive Oils: Wild Mushroom & Sage is a good herbacious olive oil to substitute. Or try Oregano White Balsamic paired with any EVOO for that wonderful oregano flavor.

Recipe alert! If you love our Cara Cara Orange - Vanilla Balsamic and have been looking for a way to use it, this recipe is perfect! Especially if you want a cozy homemade dish to savor this weekend😋

Cara Cara Orange – Vanilla Apple Crisp

Ingredients:

Filling
2 lbs apples, cored, peeled, & sliced ¼” thick
¼ cup light brown sugar
1 Tbsp Cara Cara Orange – Vanilla White Balsamic
1 Tbsp all-purpose flour
½ tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp salt

Crisp Topping:

9 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1 tsp Cara Cara Orange – Vanilla White Balsamic
¾ cup all-purpose flour
1 cup old fashioned oats
½ cup light brown sugar, tightly packed
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
¾ tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 375°F, lightly oil a 9×9 or 11×7 glass baking dish with EVOO

To make the filling, in a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, brown sugar, balsamic, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Stir until the apples are well coated. Set aside.

To make the topping, in a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter and balsamic. In a separate bowl, mix flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Pour the butter/balsamic mixture into the dry ingredients and stir with a fork until clumpy.

Spread the apple mixture evenly in your prepared pan sprinkling the crumb topping evenly over the apples.

Bake for 45–50 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.

Scoop warm crisp into bowls, top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and finish with a drizzle of your EVOO.

Hello Friends!

It's March with all the variable weather we get this time of year when it seems to flip flop between winter and spring, but it's a perfect time of year to stay cozy indoors and try some new recipes, like the ones we've included in this newsletter for you with a spring and Irish theme.

Many of you, in the Snohomish area particularly, have seen news that the City is selling our building and have asked us about that. I had hoped to buy the building but simply couldn't swing it financially. However, there is currently a buyer for the property, and we've been assured to stay at this location through our lease period of two more years. Then, hopefully, we can continue to stay here much longer after that term is up. We love offering these products to you & know that you love us being here!

Thank you so much for all the love and support you have shown over the years! It amazes me to recall that I've owned this business seven years as of this June, and the previous owners owned it for seven years before I bought it. My goal is to have it be here as a long-term legacy for the community, so you can continue getting the delicious products you've come to enjoy.

Warmly,
Debe & the team at A Bit of Taste

We also still have Barnea (https://www.abitoftaste.com/product/barnea-evoo/188?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=19) , Frantoio (https://www.abitoftaste.com/product/frantoio-evoo-medium/713?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=19) , Estate Reserve Cuvee (https://www.abitoftaste.com/product/estate-reserve-cuvee-evoo/756?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=19) and Coratina (https://www.abitoftaste.com/product/coratina-evoo-medium/159?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=19) robust EVOO's available.

~ Unfortunately, we've received news recently that the Black Currant & Elderberry Dark Balsamics are no longer being produced by our supplier, but possibly more Rose' flavors will become available.
