Finally! She’s done! Let me introduce Miss Metsy, the fighting fish!.
I am a stage 4, metastatic breast cancer patient. One of the hardest things about this disease is simply, staying out of my own head. So, I craft. I’ve been a crocheter for several years, but I decided I needed to try something new.
If you scroll back you’ll find a pic of the beginning of a pair of rainbow angel wings, those are currently in timeout. Macrame! Still working with threads, strings and fibers.
Macrame is a whole other world. Somewhere along the way, I found micromacrame. So I made a couple bracelets, a couple keychains, again, you can scroll for pictures.
This weekend though, I found a pattern for a fish. I followed the pattern for that one, the bright blue and pink one you’ll see pictured below. From there I realized that not only can I customize the colors, but that no two will be exactly the same. Truly, a customizable piece, and Mesty was born.
Mesty is done in pink, teal and green, the colors for metastatic breast cancer. Because I did make her for myself, I made her a little fancier than the other 2.
