Turkey Creek Orchard

Turkey Creek Orchard We are a small family-run orchard where you can pick your own peaches, apples, Asian pears, PawPaws and chestnuts. Wild plums grow on our acreage.

Turkey Creek Orchard was begun in 2009 with the planting of 100 fruit trees on the farm of Peter and Eileen Fisher in rural Johnson County, Iowa. We have apple, peach, pear, and Asian pear trees producing, along with raspberries, strawberries, aronia berries, and blackberries. We employ organic practices, but have chosen not to become certified organic.

We have some lovely Asian pears and apples ready to pick. Reply via messenger to set up a time.

The .53 acres plot of hardwoods and evergreens are planted and growing. So far no deer damage. The tall grass and short grass with forbes got planted early June and it is starting to come up. An inch of rain on Tuesday helped.

There are no peaches this year. Zero. The tempe

rature this past January dipped so low it killed all of the peach buds. Even on the Reliance. Asian pears are plentiful and look good. There are lots of apples, but some got hail damage when they were tiny. The damage is cosmetic and doesn't hurt the apple.

We are currently out of the abnormally dry area and hope that continues without flooding. Our sympathy to NW Iowa and parts of SD. My hometown of Montrose, SD had flooding.

The prettiest time of year in the orchard. Lots of apple blooms this year, and the pollinators have been busy. PawPaws have more blooms than ever. The peaches, unfortunately, did not survive the heat spell in March (when the buds started showing pink) followed by prolonged cold.
