Our Story

Sometimes the best ideas come from looking at something familiar from a different perspective.

While flying a drone over our family farm in Somerset, Kentucky, we captured an aerial view that stopped us in our tracks. Below us was a breathtaking bend in the Rockcastle River, winding its way through the hills and timber like a ribbon of blue. It was a view we had never fully appreciated from the ground, and in that moment, the name became clear.

River Bend-Cattle Farms was born from that beautiful bend in the river that has always been part of our land, our livelihood, and our family's story.

As our dream grew beyond the farm, we wanted to create a place where friends, neighbors, and travelers could gather around good food, good conversation, and a sense of community. That dream became River Bend Café and Mercantile—a place rooted in the same values that guide our farm: hard work, hospitality, family, and quality.

Today, River Bend Café and Mercantile and River Bend-Cattle Farms work hand in hand. From our farm to your table, we're proud to serve our community while sharing the story of the land that inspired it all.

What started with a drone flight and a stunning view of the Rockcastle River became more than a name—it became our identity.
