Angels come in many forms. For us, it was our friend Kathleen, who singlehandedly designed and implemented a fundraiser for us after our market fridge died, spoiling thousands of dollars of product. Life felt pretty bleak. Then Kathleen called and proposed a lemonade stand to raise money for us at our upcoming farm event. We had no idea what she intended, but we appreciated her thoughtfulness and agreed to give her free rein. Within 24 hours, Kathleen had created a logo, crafted a story, and assembled a team to seek donations (and even bought the lemonade!). All day, while I was busy introducing goat queens, Kathleen, Sharon, Terry, and Sheila wandered around the market, lemon badges on hats, sharing our story with the community. And the community responded!!! SO MANY people came to our aid that, in the end, the amount raised almost exactly matched the amount we lost in product! When I had counted it all up, and sent an email to Kathleen, she replied, "Our crazy hope was to fully replace your loss and it’s so crazy that it happpened!" Many of you were among the generous anonymous donors, and so I wanted to share the good news here, so you also could celebrate! THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. When we really needed a boost, you were there to give us a hand. Not only did you heal our financial wound, but you gave our spirit a huge boost. Every single dollar donated was a dollar that could have been used for many other good reasons, and yet you chose to help us. We do not take that gift lightly. Your support has lifted us up, and we, in turn, will do our part to keep the farm a warm and welcoming place for the community. Together, we are stronger. We are proud to be part of your community!
