SoRo Market

A full service, community-own grocery store located on the village green in South Royalton, VT. Membership is a one-time fee and is refundable if you move away.

You do not need to be a member to shop at the Market, but members receive extra benefits, such as twice-a-month discounts. More information available in the store or on our website.

Eighteen people had a great time learning how to make real, New York City style bagels with retired Rochester teacher, Faye Severy last Saturday. This was Faye's second time teaching this workshop for the Co-op. One participant even attended both! Special thanks goes out as always to our partners at the White River Valley High School in SoRo. They graciously open their cafeteria and kitchen spaces to us so that these fun and educational community learning opportunities can occur. Thank you! Happy free cheese sample Thursday! Today Elizabeth offers local and new to us, Bleu de Champlain from Champlain Valley Creamery and their 100% grass fed Jersey cows! Elizabeth calls it "complex and memorable". The creamery says it's, "aged 75-90 days before release for sale. During this time the cheese is pierced twice to enhance blue mold growth, while a natural rind develops on the surface. The rich Jersey milk makes for a creamy, spicy finished cheese!" Treat yourself to a free nibble in the store and bring home a wedge and some honey to replicate this phenomenal pairing!

Happy member appreciation day! We have had some great live demos today. Once Upon a Coconut was at the store earlier. Their products taste out of this world and have, healthy, short, ingredients lists. Upstate Elevator will be out in front of the store until we close at 7 pm. They are sampling their awesome, locally made CBD supplements and beverages that you can find right in the Co-op. Four kinds of honey from Northwoods Apiaries in Westfield, VT are still out. Samples of My Dad's Cookies (Gluten Free) from Oceanside, NY sadly ran out hours ago but boy are they beautiful and tasty! As they say, they are the most delicious allergy-friendly cookie. They make great gifts! If you miss MAD today, please join us on June 10th.

Tomorrow is member appreciation day! Did you know that your member discount can be used when buying the beautiful, healthy plants that we currently have out front? Our produce clerk , Marley, is pictured standing with this gorgeous display from Fledgling Farmstead in Tunbridge. These locally grown starts will help make gardening a snap this year!

Happy free cheese sample Thursday! Elizabeth has found a fantastic gouda to replace the logs that are no longer available. This version is from Holland, where gouda comes from originally and is still made with precision and pride! Gouda is actually named for the city in South Holland from where it originally hails centuries ago. How could you turn down a cheese that has been described as, fudgy, sweet and smokey?!

Our health and beauty manager April and from left: Claire, Titien, Connie and Elizabeth, want you to know that we have Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia from the Golden Girls T.V. show in the store! The actual actors are not present but we do have four soaps made by Finchberry Soapery, one named and scented for each Golden Girl as a tribute to them. Handcrafted in small batches, these pretty soaps are sure to take your cleansing routine to the next level. They also make exquisite and affordable gifts! As their song goes, thank you for being a friend!

It's Member Appreciation Day tomorrow 5/13, and we are happy to announce that a representative from Morrill Mountain Fruit Farm in Strafford will be in the store from 12-2PM sampling their fantastic Nanarella's Fruit pâte that they make themselves from the berries they grow and more. Such a wonderful, specialty local product from start to finish! We look forward to seeing you at the Co-op!

This creative creation comes to us from Barn First Creamery in Waitsfield, VT.
