🍅 What’s In Season: Texas Tomatoes

Tomatoes are in season across Texas, and this is when they offer the flavor and texture they’re known for. Whether you’re slicing them for sandwiches, tossing them into salads, roasting them, or using them in homemade salsa, fresh, in-season tomatoes don’t need much to stand out.

Tomatoes are an excellent source of vitamin C, provide potassium, and are rich in lycopene—a natural antioxidant that has been studied for its role in supporting heart health and protecting cells from oxidative stress.

Fun Fact: Tomatoes become red as they ripen because they produce more lycopene while breaking down chlorophyll. That same compound is what gives many red fruits and vegetables their vibrant color.

When tomatoes are in season, they’re a simple reminder that great produce starts with harvesting at the right time.

You’ve probably seen the news: 1.6 million dozen eggs recalled in Texas over salmonella concerns, pulled from grocery shelves across six states. We want to be clear — that recall has nothing to do with us. We’re not connected to those stores or that supplier.

Our eggs come straight from Cedar Ridge Regenerative Egg Farm in Pickton, TX. No middleman, no distribution warehouse, no six-state supply chain. We work directly with the farm, so we know exactly where every carton comes from — and exactly where it’s been.

Cedar Ridge holds 8 active certifications:

    •    Certified Humane
    •    USDA inspected
    •    FDA registered
    •    HACCP certified
    •    NPIP compliant
    •    CA SEFS compliant
    •    American Grass-Fed
    •    Halal certified

Plus monthly disease testing and hens raised on all-natural feed, no hormones or antibiotics.

🍈 What’s In Season: Texas Honeydew Melons

Honeydew melons are in season across Texas, making this one of the best times to enjoy them at their freshest. Their mild sweetness and crisp texture make them an easy addition to breakfast, salads, smoothies, or as a simple snack.

Along with tasting great, honeydew is a good source of vitamin C to support your immune system, potassium to help maintain healthy fluid balance, and it’s naturally high in water, making it a refreshing choice during the Texas heat.

Fun Fact: Honeydew melons are one of the few fruits that reach their best flavor on the vine. Once harvested, they soften over time but don’t become significantly sweeter, which is why buying them in season makes such a difference.

When produce is in season, you don’t have to do much to let its quality speak for itself.

𝗔 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮

The recent headlines about Cyclospora have understandably raised questions about fresh produce. As a small business supporting small farmers, we want to tell you directly what we know and what we're doing.

Most of these outbreaks trace back to sprawling national supply chains — produce that passes through brokers, processors, and distribution centers before anyone can say where it actually came from. That’s what makes tracing them so slow.

Our supply chain looks different. We buy from small farms, many run by people we know by name. Fewer stops between the field and your door means that if we ever have a question about a product, we call the person who grew it. And if a recall ever involved one of our farms, we’d know which farm and which harvest — not a lot number in a national database.

Our commitments:
• Our farms and suppliers must notify us if anything they’ve sent us falls under an active recall.
• We keep sourcing records for every product, so tracing takes hours, not weeks.
• We inspect every delivery as it’s received and packed.
• We monitor FDA and CDC advisories, and if a product we’ve supplied is ever affected, we’ll remove it and contact you directly.

This is just another reason to support small farmers and producers!

Thank you for your support!

🧀 MEET THE MAKER: Cheese Brothers

Two guys from Wisconsin. Not brothers by blood — bonded by the brotherhood of great cheese. 🤝

The story starts in 1919, when Eric’s great-grandfather Fritz, a Swiss cheesemaker, landed in small-town Wisconsin and opened one of the area’s first cheese factories. Over 100 years later, the family tradition lives on — same time-honored methods, just milk, salt & natural cultures. Nothing artificial, ever.

When 2020 shut down their street fairs and Mall of America shop, Eric & Gene pivoted overnight — shipping cheese out of a garage with a refrigerated trailer in the driveway. Today they’re one of the biggest names in online cheese. 📦

And now their Wisconsin favorites are in the Farmbox Cheese Shop:

🔥 Smoked Gouda (cold-smoked over real hardwood)
🥃 Bourbon Gouda
🍞 Golden Baked Bliss (heat it, eat it, thank us later)
🧄 Garlic & Dill Cheese Curds (yes, they squeak!)
🧀 “Pretty Boy” Sharp Cheddar + more

Made with rBST-free milk from Wisconsin family farms. Tap the Cheese Shop and add a little Wisconsin to your next box. 🚚💚

The produce isn't the problem. The plan is. 📕👩‍🍳

Most of what goes bad in the fridge goes bad because there was never a plan for it. These five steps fix that — about an hour on Sunday, and your box turns into actual dinners instead of good intentions.
