I love sharing fun food facts and being transparent about my licensing and requirements. In addition to holding a commercial kitchen license (since freeze drying is not covered under cottage law) and undergoing state inspections, we strictly follow the labeling requirements for packaged foods set by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP).
Based on state law (Wisconsin Food Code 3-602.11) packaged food (not talking about foods under cottage law) must be packaged with the following information:
•All packaged foods must be labeled.
Generally, a packaged food label should include:
•The product name
•A list of ingredients in descending order of weight
•A statement of net weight or volume
•The name, address, and zip code of the manufacturer, packer, or distributor
•Nutrition information, unless the food is specifically exempt from this requirement.
Unfortunately, I've noticed that many companies selling similar products don't adhere to food safety standards, including properly labeling ingredients, marking allergens, and including weight information. I work diligently to ensure that we fully comply with all state regulations to keep you safe ❤️
