If you've bought eggs from the grocery store lately, you've probably noticed a variety of marketing terms. One of the most common hype terms is "Cage-free eggs"; but what does Cage-Free really mean?...not much. "Cage-Free, simply means that the factory-farm doesn't keep their hens in individual cages. They are still confined to large barns where the factory farms inhumanely crowd as many chickens as they can fit onto the floor. Because they never even see the sun, they cannot produce Vitamin D. Because they cannot engage in normal chicken behaviors such as chasing bugs and scratching in the ground for seeds, they generally live a very short, stressed life. When compared to store-bought eggs, with fancy sounding marketing terms printed on the cartons, our local free-range farm eggs are richer in color, yolk density, nutrition, freshness, flavor and satisfaction that you are supporting humanely treated, ethically raised chickens.

Our eggs range in color from blue to green to brown, tan and pink. The color of the shell is really just a matter of aesthetics, as different breeds of birds lay different colored shells, what really counts is on the inside. Crack one open and see the truth of the saying; "you are what you eat". Our chickens eat only natural foods, including whole grains, bugs, wild seeds and fruit. The natural things which chickens were designed to eat. We are not concerned with producing the most eggs we can get from the least amount of feed possible, we leave that up to the commercial "Franken-Chicken farmers. What we are concerned with is making our chickens happy by letting them experience the free-ranging life and eating only the highest quality foods. Happy chickens lay happy eggs. Taste the happiness, crack one of our eggs into your skillet tomorrow.

Folks ask why our eggs look and taste so much better than store-bought eggs. The answer is that our hens live their life as chickens were meant to live, ranging freely through the weeds, woods and pasture, eating bugs, seeds, worms, berries and natural foods that production farmed chickens can only dream of. Unlike the pale, sickly yellow yolks you are used to from grocery store eggs, when you crack one of our eggs into your skillet, the yolk stands up proud and round like a bright orange marble. They look like sunshine and taste like happiness, not cruelty. Try out our egg subscription service and taste the difference.
