This is our very favorite GF baker after his amazing surgery in December. Every day is better. He is still an amazing cook. And thanks to God he may be back making all those foods we love in a month or so . Hooeay! .

Hi folks! I've had some inquiries, especially with yesterday's holiday, about SBE, Etc.
I am shut down for the foreseeable future. What began as assurances and definitive prognosis of a liver transplant due to Stage 4 cirrhosis of the liver has evolved into a pretty probable reason for me to have it to begin with: constructive Pericarditis.
Upshot: still don't know if they'll change out the liver, but now they'll decide after open heart surgery 🤣😣😆😥🤐😲😓😭😠☠☠☠

My dear friends, I was looking at my page here and I don't see any information about SBE.
I've put the biz on hiatus for an undetermined amount of time due to illness.
I was diagnosed last January with stage 4 cirrhosis of the liver and, unfortunately, in need of a transplant. Complicating matters was a rude introduction to acute renal failure and an enlarged heart (cardioencepathology. Isn't that a cool word for such a dangerous condition?).
The kidneys were repaired in the nick of time. The cardio is most likely symptomatic of the liver problem. One might start thinking these here body parts are connected somehow😁.
Barnes Jewish in St.Louis will be installing a liver and any other parts that look bad. We're here in St.Louis for a stress test, the last component of what's called the MELD score, which gives me a ranking on the transplant list.
My wife has a good insurance through Cox, where she's a critical care nurse (the best!) But when I caught her transferring $ from her retirement fund to pay bills already accumulated from this ordeal. I convinced her a gofumdme account could help. Our goal is $5000 (half of the minimum out of pocket expenses we expect to accrue, so if you can spare a buck, pleas help. We're not even to 1k, and the wolves are howling.
I do expect to survive, and if so, will be reopening Scotty's Biscotti, only in a MUCH more professional presentation.

Hey everyone! Tis I, your humble (well, humbled, anyway) GF baker. As usual, and I know many of you will be shocked, I have been a lousy communicator. All along, I should have been providing updates - on me and mine - and I apologize for not doing so.
I have a gofumdme account set up (called "Scott's liver transplant ". Clever name, I know) and, as I understood things that is posted to my FB account.
I've put the biz on hiatus until this ordeal is over. If you're recent to my post, I am in the midst of evaluation for liver transplant. There's been many trials and challenges, adaptations and adjusting to new circumstances. I wish I could say the road has been easy, but it hasn't
As so many know, those have faced or are facing worries and ills of their own.
I am, however, excited. Yeah, sounds crazy, huh? And yet, it couldn't be more true. Though my body feel a certain way, or have debilitating tests performed, I can feel joy and happiness because He is with me. Peace, and God bless.

Wow. Somethings you just don't want to be true, are. And sometimes obstacles just seem too tall. And, ultimately, as Dirty Harry Callahan would say "you just got to know your limitations". All true. Folks, I'm stepping out of market for awhile. Having a progressive illness brings whole new challenges and all we can do is our best to meet hem. I want to continue Scotty's Biscotti, Etc. in some way, therefore, we are taking a time out to figure thins out. And, whether you be a vendor, a customer, administrative, or managerial, I want to say it has been a joy and a privilege to get to know you and work with you. Thank you all.

Scotty's Biscotti sells Gluten-free baked goods every Saturday at the Farmer's Market of the Ozarks. Special orders are available, but weekly there are many fresh-baked items. Favorites include blueberry muffins, pizza crust, sourdough bread, and double chocolate brownies. Cakes and other breads are available upon request!

Well folks, I am learning how difficult it is to balance running a small business with having a serious medical condition. To cut it short, I won't be at market tomorrow. I am sorry to be absent. I love seeing everyone and serving fresh baked goods to ya'll. After a procedure Tuesday, I anticipate being functional again and, with God's grace, I'll see you next week. Peace to all.
