Yes, I am quite literally racing the sun.

Find the shade. Plant like crazy. Move with the shade. Repeat. 😂

Because apparently September farming in Arkansas is less about a planting schedule and more about strategic negotiations with the sun. ☀️

But these seeds aren’t going to plant themselves, and I’ve got flowers to grow! 🩷🌸

Rehabbing a few rows and hoping for a late frost... 🤞🏽

Shocked at how dry the soil is.

How are the soil conditions where you are? 🤷🏽‍♀️

🇺🇸 Labor Day.
It’s more than the unofficial end of summer, a long weekend, or one last cookout.

Labor Day was created to honor the American worker and the contributions working people have made to the strength and prosperity of our country.
And out here on the farm, the word labor feels especially fitting.

It’s early mornings and late evenings.
Seeds planted long before there’s anything to show for them.

Rows tended, eggs gathered, bread baked, jars filled, flowers cut, weeds pulled, tables set up… and then sometimes doing it all over again tomorrow.

But it’s certainly not just farmers.

It’s teachers walking into classrooms. Nurses caring for patients. First responders answering calls. Construction crews building our communities. Factory workers, truck drivers, small-business owners, linemen, mechanics, office workers, caregivers, cooks, cashiers, wait staff, and countless others whose work keeps this country moving every single day.

Today is a good day to remember that so much of what we enjoy exists because somebody, somewhere, put in the work.💪🏽

So today, we fly the flag with gratitude for the hands, hearts, back bone, and determination that built this country and continue building it every day. 🇺🇸

Happy Labor Day from Thousand Oaks Flowers & Farmstead. ❤️🤍💙

The Farmstand got a little glow-up, and I am OBSESSED. 🩷🌸

Between our new tent and these gorgeous new tablecloths, it is finally starting to look like the little Farmstand I’ve had pictured in my head!

And can we talk about these tablecloths?! 😍

They are fitted and go all the way to the ground, which means everything I have tucked, stacked, stored and shoved underneath the tables is completely hidden. 😂 That alone makes them worth their weight in gold around here!

I chose this pretty pink toile for the Farmstand, but they come in all kinds of colors and patterns. If you have a shower, party, wedding, vendor booth, holiday gathering or anything else coming up, these are SO GOOD.

They’ve become one of my very favorite Amazon finds lately, so of course I had to share them with y’all! 🩷💁🏽‍♀️

You can find them here:

And meanwhile, I’ll just be down here admiring my new tent and my floor-length tablecloths like we have opened a tiny country boutique instead of a Farmstand. 😂🌸

I asked JJ if he’d run up to the house and grab my JBL speaker for me.

A few minutes later, I hear him coming back down the hill...

And he’s got it turned up playing Dolly Parton’s “Mule Skinner Blues.” 😂🩷

I didn’t ask him to turn it on. I didn’t ask him to find me some music. And I definitely didn’t tell him what to play.

He just knows me. 🩷

After all these years, it’s those little things that still get me.

So if you come see us at the Farmstand today, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll hear Dolly playing while I’m piddling around down here. 😂

Come shop, visit for a while, and enjoy the music with me!

We’re open today from 9:00–1:00.

🍂 Okay, who else is already thinking about FALL?! 🍂🤷🏽‍♀️

Because apparently I am incapable of doing fall halfway. 😂 Pumpkins, hay bales, corn stalks and MUMS.

ALL. THE. MUMS. 😍

These pictures are from last year at Thousand Oaks, and I’m already getting excited thinking about doing it all over again!

YES, we will have mums at the farm again this year! 🌼 And if y’all love decorating for fall as much as I do, I have a feeling they’re going to disappear just as quickly as they did last year.

But before we start bringing them in, I want to hear from YOU!

🌼 POLL: What color mums are you looking for this fall?

🧡 Orange/Bronze
💛 Yellow
💜 Purple
❤️ Red/Burgundy

And if your answer is “one of every color because I have no self-control around fall flowers,” you may have found your people. 😂🍁

Tell me your favorite below! 👇 I’m taking notes. 📝🌼🩷

(P.S. We will talk pumpkins later... 😂🩷🎃)

We have a lot of new faces around here lately, so I thought this might be a good time to introduce ourselves. 🤷🏽‍♀️

We’re Candace and JJ, and Thousand Oaks Flowers and Farmstead sits on land in Springfield, Arkansas, that has been in our family since 1886.

We grow flowers for you to pick, vegetables for the farmstand, raise a whole bunch of chickens, and share the beautiful, messy, unpredictable—and often hilarious—reality of farm life as we go. 🩷

If there are two things I can count on to steadily produce around here in Arkansas late August and early September, it’s okra and eggs. 😍

No matter how hot it gets or what else on the farm decides it has had enough, the okra keeps reaching for the sky and the girls keep laying. There’s something awfully comforting about that.

Farm life teaches you to be grateful for the things that keep showing up—and lately, that includes all of you. We’re awfully glad you’re here! 🥰

Now I need to know: How do you like your okra? Fried? Pickled? Grilled? In gumbo? Or are you firmly on Team No Okra? 😂

I’ve started creating a little corner of the internet that feels like you and me having coffee and sharing our favorite things. 🩷☕

A little transparency before I tell you more: I’m a Walmart Creator, so I may earn a small commission from qualifying purchases made through my links—at no extra cost to you.

And that makes this even more special to me. Something you were already planning to buy at Walmart could help us plant a seed, feed a chicken, water a flower, or keep this little farm dream growing. 🌱🐓🌸

I’m filling my storefront with things I have actually purchased, used, and LOVE. These are the things that have made farm life easier, my kitchen happier, my home prettier, or simply brought me a little joy.

Think of it as us sitting down together while I say, “Okay, I bought this—and you need to know about it!” 😂

If I wouldn’t tell you about it over coffee, it doesn’t belong in my storefront. 🩷

I’ll keep adding favorites as I find them, and I hope it becomes a fun little place to browse whenever you want an honest recommendation from a friend.

☕ Come see what I’m loving:

Farm life, home, garden, kitchen & a little everyday fabulous. 🌿✨ I have expensive taste and a very healthy respect for a bargain. 😂 If it works hard, looks good, or makes life a little prettier without costing a fortune, I’m sharing it. Consider this bougie on a budget, farmstead edition....
