This evening, we're doing drone brood assays as a family! Looking for varroa mites under the cell cappings of the drone brood. We checked 100 cells and found ZERO mites!!! Them bees have some good genetics!

Spring has sprung!
Finally got a chance to get out to the apiary and weigh the hives! The bees ate an average of 22lbs of honey since October 1st.
They are also beginning to make some brood. I added 1/4 of pollen patty to help them along until the first pollen begins to come in from maples and poplars.
