Hey Rochester our CSA registration is open! 20 weeks of the freshest produce from our farm beginning in mid May. Each week typically includes a mix of lettuce, salad greens, our super sweet cherry tomatoes, some shoots or micro greens, herbs, flowers and various other vegetables based on the time of year. Our pasture raised chickens are also included at least once per season. Swipe to see a couple examples. The cost is $350 and we have multiple pickup locations around Rochester. I’m taking orders for this batch of knives. You’ll have to use your imagination a bit here, but I promise they’ll look real nice when they’re done! I’m making full size chef’s knives (both western and Japanese style), utility kitchen knives (a slightly smaller chef’s knife), vegetable cleavers, paring knives and steak knives.
25% deposit to hold your order, balance due when your knife is complete (4-6 weeks). Aeb-l steel.
Handles will be hardwood. Special handle materials and custom engraving also available. Here are the base prices:

Utility knives $175

When I'm not in the greenhouse... I'm in the shop making knives!! These knives are called "gyuto" and are a sort of hybrid between flat French knives and rocking German knives, but with the thinness and sharpness of Japanese knives. Solid, sharp, durable and beautiful. Need a knife? Let's talk!

There are lots of great aspects to growing hydroponically but the incredible shelf life has to be my favorite. No one likes bringing home fresh produce only to see it go to bad in the fridge. My customers and I consistently get 1-4 weeks out of our basil and lettuce and that is something I'm really proud of!

Our Dahlias for next season!

FUN PLANT FACT: Dahlias are a large popular flower that grow large tuberous roots (which is what potatoes are). These large tubers are a thickened root that store large amounts of nutrients for when the plant is not actively growing. With plants that have tuberous roots you can either grow them from seed, which results in a longer growing season and a smaller plant (since they have to grow these roots and develop this energy reserve) or you can divide and plant these tubers same as you would a bulb! The best part is that this means every year our supply of Dahlias triples as the plants continue to develop and grow more tubers!

People ask me what I do in the winter, well the answer is I do a lot of things. I keep farming, I take on some off farm work, and I work at my craft projects.

This is a knife I just finished up and I'm really happy with it! Looks and performs great. High carbon stainless steel, ironwood and ebony wood handle, brass pins and custom logo.
