Grateful for evenings at home, hands in the soil, planting, tending, nurturing what’s been entrusted to us.

We do the work of the farmer: we plant the seeds, we care for the ground, we show up with intention day after day, trusting the process even when we can’t yet see the fruit…knowing who is truly responsible for the growth.

"Children grow up hearing how broken the environment is, how broken beyond repair. Plant strawberries together, make wild medicines, paint the sunrise. Show them proof that for every act of destruction, they can sow a seed, however small, of beauty." - Nicolette Sowder

We have been busy closing out our very first season here, learning the land, making mistakes, celebrating small wins, and dreaming for what next year will bring.

There is a certain peace in this time of transition, when the soil rests, the air turns crisp, and you can almost feel God’s quiet hand at work in it all.

We have been praying for our fellow farmers and growers, asking that your harvest be abundant, your hearts full, and your hands blessed by the work you have poured into the soil this year.

As we shift gears and settle into this new season, we are holding deep gratitude for it all…the lessons, and the growth that came with our first year on this land.

What are you most grateful for as this new season begins?

Here on the farm, we’re reminded daily that meaningful work is more than a paycheck, it’s the sweat on your brow, the dirt under your nails, the joy in watching seeds grow, and the deep satisfaction of knowing your labor serves something bigger than yourself.

This Labor Day holiday isn’t just about rest (though that’s important, too). It’s about honoring the sacredness of work… the way it shapes our character, sustains our families, and reminds us that provision comes through both effort and grace.

Today, we celebrate the dignity of labor, the blessings of provision, and the gift of gathering with loved ones in gratitude. May your day be filled with peace in the present and plenty in all that truly matters.

The Midwest Superberry You’ve Probably Never Tried!!!

When people talk about superfoods, they usually think of faraway places—acai from the Amazon or goji berries from across the globe. But did you know we have one of the world’s most powerful berries growing right here in the Midwest? 💜

Meet the Aronia berry (sometimes called chokeberry). Don’t let its small size fool you, this little fruit holds some of the highest antioxidant levels of any berry in the world. (That’s right, even higher than blueberries).

Here’s why we love them:
✨ Immune Support – packed with vitamin C and polyphenols
✨ Heart Health – shown to support healthy blood pressure & cholesterol
✨ Gut Wellness – naturally high in fiber for digestion & microbiome balance
✨ Anti-Inflammatory Power – may reduce inflammation throughout the body

At Peace and Plenty Provisions, we believe that God has already placed what we need in creation to nourish, strengthen, and heal us. Aronia is proof, it’s local, sustainable, and deeply nourishing.

They’re tart right off the bush, but that makes them perfect for smoothies, jams, teas, and baked goods. Next time you’re looking for a new way to bring wellness to your table, try swapping in aronia where you might use blueberries.

Simple, powerful, and grown close to home. That’s peace and plenty.

Lately I’ve (Meagan) been feeling the energy shift as we step into another transition, back to school, back to routines, back to a rhythm that grounds us after the wide-open days of summer.

Any other year, I’d already be pulling out the fall decorations, planning crockpot meals, and leaning fully into cozy season. But this year feels different. Our oldest daughter graduated from high school, and there’s a very real chance that this was her last summer living full-time under our roof. When I sit with that, I feel all the feels…gratitude, tenderness, and the ache of change.

It’s so easy to rush to the next thing, the next season, the next milestone, the next “to-do.” But this shift from summer to late summer reminds me to simply be here. To savor the garden heavy with fruit, and flowers, the golden light, the laughter around the table, and even this breath.

This season whispers: there is no need to rush. There is peace and plenty right here, in this moment, in this life.

Meet calendula (Calendula officinalis), the golden flower that’s been used for centuries to soothe skin, calm inflammation, and support healing, naturally.

💛 Why It’s Special
• Skin superhero → speeds up healing of cuts, scrapes, and burns.
• Calms irritation → great for rashes, eczema, diaper rash, and sunburn.
• Gentle yet powerful → antimicrobial + anti-inflammatory properties.
• More than skin deep → calendula tea can comfort digestion and calm sore throats.

Fun Fact: The more you pick calendula, the more it blooms… a living lesson in giving and receiving.

Stay tuned to see how Peace & Plenty will be utilizing this powerhouse of packed goodness!!
