Tomorrow is a day that should have never happened 25 years ago but it did.

Happening tomorrow at the Newtown Commons is the Heros and Harvest event. This event will have different resources to help support our veterans, food trucks and vendors.

This is a free event so take the family out for an evening at the commons!

Good Thursday morning!

First thing this morning we have Maria with Beyond Baking

"Beyond Baking is more than baking and more than creating unique decor. My world is made of cozy spaces and delicious details. I believe beauty belongs everywhere. In our homes, spaces and on our plates. My Focaccia Breads are an extension of that. Crafting Italian Flatbreads into edible art and loving the process!"

Edible art is an understatement. If you haven't already seen the beautiful work she does, you're truly missing out!

This year we welcomed the sweetest person to our market! Everyone say hello to Amelia and take a few minutes to learn about our newest member and why she got into this journey!

"When Amelia was 12, she told her dad that she wanted to be a vegetarian due to her concerns over animal welfare. He said that she could not be a vegetarian because she was still growing and needed animal protein but that she could be a pescatarian (vegetarian who eats seafood, plus eggs and dairy).

So she was a pescatarian from then until age 21, when she read Michael Pollan's classic, The Omnivore's Dilemma. In it, Pollan states that we humans have meat digesting enzymes for a reason. And so she ate her dad's local turkey burgers that night.

For years, Amelia's dad encouraged her to pursue farming because she was so drawn to it. Then he passed away suddenly in 2022, and Amelia realized that we aren't here on this earth very long so she'd better get to meat farming!

In January 2024, after quitting her small nonprofit job, she officially started Amelia's Farmette when her first child was 2. And she's loved her job raising meat chickens on pasture ever since!"

We are so lucky to have Amelia join us this year and hopefully many more to come!

To wrap up this Mondayish Tuesday, we have Mike and Carrie from Carter Hall Farm. Before you go to sleep tonight, take a little time to read the story behind Carter Hill Farm.

"Mike and Carrie own Carter Hall Family Farm, where this all began. Their vision is rooted in raising animals with care, intention, and respect for the land they call home 🌱

Together they raise heritage breeds including American Milking Devon cattle, Berkshire pigs, and Hog Island sheep, along with chickens and Nigerian Dwarf goats 🐖🐐🐓

Through rotational grazing, silvopasture, and sustainable farming practices, the animals are given space to live as naturally as possible and express their natural instincts 🐄

Because they believe food raised with care tastes better and the story behind it matters."

WOW! Thank goodness they decided to share what they love doing with our community! Especially now with all of the recalls going on and how the economy is.

I love going by their farm and seeing animals living their best lives. Be sure to stop by and say hello while grabbing some good quality meat!

Carter Hall Farm’s on-farm market is open today from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Stop by the front gate for pork chops, sausage, ground beef, and other farm favorites—and we look forward to seeing our Chicken CSA members for their fresh chicken pickup.
