Michigan Approves One-Buck Rule for Lower Peninsula

Michigan’s Natural Resources Commission (NRC) voted 4-3 to approve a new one-buck limit for the Lower Peninsula on Wednesday. The decision concludes months of debate and intense public feedback, signaling a major shift in how deer are managed in Michigan.

While reform groups pushed for the rule to take effect this fall, the commission confirmed the changes will not be implemented until the 2027 season.

The City of Farmington Hills is deeply saddened to share that the rare white albino doe recently seen throughout our community was struck and killed by a vehicle near 12 Mile Rd. and Halsted Rd.

This unique deer captured the hearts of many community members, and we understand the strong community interest in their story. We appreciate the compassion shown by those who reached out with concern.

As wildlife activity increases during spring, we encourage all drivers to remain alert, especially during dawn and dusk when animals are most active.

Update from the western U.P.
With over 344 inches of snow this season and a "critical" 125-day streak of deep snow cover, the Keweenaw Sportsmen’s Club is in a race against time.
​Local deer have exhausted their 90-day fat reserves and cannot reach natural food. To prevent a mass die-off, the club is feeding over 1,000 deer daily and will continue until mid May. They are set to break their typical 50- 60-ton feed record to ensure the herd's survival.
