Dear Friends,

It’s with a heavy heart that we write to share an important update about the Stevensville Mercantile. Despite months of hard work, excitement, and countless moments of dreaming together, we’ve had to make the difficult decision not to open the Mercantile as planned.

This decision was not made lightly. Our vision has always been to create a space that bridges the gap between local producers and the community—a place filled with connection, nourishment, and shared pride in the incredible talent of our region. While the path forward is uncertain, the dream remains very much alive in our hearts.

We cannot thank you enough for the support, encouragement, and belief you’ve given us. From kind words and shared excitement to those who were ready to bring their goods to our shelves—each of you has reminded us why this effort matters so deeply.

This isn’t goodbye to the dream, but a pause to regroup, reflect, and discover the best way to make it a reality in the future.

As we prepare to open Stevensville Mercantile, our new hybrid market and farmstand, we’re asking for your support in bringing this vision to life! Our goal is to create a welcoming space where local farmers, food producers, and artisans can share their products with the community—and where you can shop knowing you’re getting fresh, locally sourced goods.

To make this a reality, we need essential cooling equipment. We’re raising funds to purchase commercial-grade coolers and freezers, which are crucial to keep perishable goods safe, fresh, and ready for you and your family. These units will allow us to offer a wide range of products—from farm-fresh veggies and meats to local dairy, mushrooms, and specialty frozen items.

Provide more local food options year-round: Coolers and freezers allow us to keep produce, meat, and dairy products safe and fresh.

We’ve had some lovely humans reach out, asking how they can help support Stevensville Mercantile Co., so we’ve launched a GoFundMe! Our goal is to raise $10,000 to purchase a 3-bay produce/dairy cooler and a 3-bay freezer, allowing us to store and offer fresh, local goods from Bitterroot Valley farmers and artisans.

For those who prefer to donate in person, we are gladly accepting those as well, and they’ll be added to our total! Every bit of support gets us closer to opening our doors and creating a space where local producers can thrive.
