Feltis Farms CSA

Feltis Farms CSA Ultra Fresh Vegetables From The Farm - Feeling Good About Eating Healthy! CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture.

When you join a CSA, you are essentially buying a farm share. Members (you, the shareholder) pay in advance for a growing season so farmers (me) have operating capital to purchase seed, soil nutrients, potting soil, flats and trays, misc. greenhouse supplies, insurance, fuel, labor, machinery, etc. During the growing season, members receive a “share” of produce from the CSA on a regular schedule (

usually once a week). Most CSA shares are be picked up right from the farm, while others CSA shares can be delivered directly to your home or designated drop-off location for a nominal fee.

This morning I vacuum sealed and froze 20 bags of fresh parsley, then dried the remainder.
Growing your own herbs is so much more economical than purchasing them from the store! Plus I know they are harvested fresh, clean, and free from chemicals. Win. Win.

Tis the season to butcher spring lambs!

If you are interested please let me know as soon as possible.

Fresh lamb meat is the perfect gift for that hard-to-buy person.

Lamb is easy to prepare and a nice change from chicken, beef, and pork.

I only have six available to butcher this month

Found some "forgotten" oranges in the crisper today. So I decided to make Orange Detox. I sliced my oranges, added tumeric, ginger, and honey and put all in pint jars. I let them sit in my refrigerator for 48 hours before I use it.

One or two teaspoons of this in hot water before bedtime or in tea throughput the day is delicious! It even soothes a scratchy throat if taken straight.

I still had ample rhubarb at the end of July so I decided to make Rhubarb Vodka. I just processed it now, after letting it steep for 6 months, and it is FANTASTIC!

Harvesting the last of my ground cherries for the season.

Ground cherries are a member of the nightshade family, as is the tomato. This fruit is also known as "husk tomato".

If left in the husk and stored in a cool, dry location, ground cherries can sometimes last until Christmas!

I will be making jam from most of these. With the rest I will be making a sweet ground cherry sauce to be served atop pork or lamb chops.

My kitchen smells AMAZING after making double batches of mint jelly and basil jelly! So simple and inexpensive to make.
