Okay spring is springing (well except that we are supposed to get snow this weekend) and that means grass the perfect ingredient for grass fed beef!! We will begin taking animals to the packer again at the end of April or beginning of May. Let us know if you are ready for some great tasting meat for your freezer. $2.75/lb for a whole and $3.00/lb for a half (all weights are hanging weights). 417-276-6205

Just wanted to let everyone know that we will have another set of animals ready in February or March so let us know if you are ready for meat. If you are not ready by February or March let us know and we can put you on a list and get you meat when you are ready (we can do just about any month after March, but it will largely depend on the animals size). Hi just an update for all those that are waiting for meat. We have a date set for 23rd October. The first on the list for that slaughter date are Kathy Pozin-Coy(1), Linda Thompson(1/2), Sarah Conrad (1/2), Anna Tuttle(1), and Bob Roach (1). The animals will be ready for pick up 14-16 days after slaughter (and after we have recieved payment). If this does or does not work for you let us know so we can make other arrangements. Our first set of animals are at the packer!! We had one person scheduled for July say they won't be ready for meat until October, but the animal is already there so if anyone that is scheduled for later and is ready now let us know and we will give you the details!!

If you signed up for a July slaughter date we have that scheduled for 31 July 2012. We had to postpone a little because of the hot, dry weather!! August slaughter dates will either be also on the 31st of July or the 14th of August (depending on when the packer can take them!) We will let you know for sure after they are delivered!

We eventually would like to offer pork in the same way we are selling the beef so we we are taking a survey to see who all would be interested in pork as well? Devin's job does not allow him to own his own pigs so right now we are just doing the number crunching part but we will keep you updated.

I made some really great sloppy joes the other night and I'm not talking Manwich!!

2 lbs. hamburger (Jarvis beef is the best :-))
1 Onion Chopped
1 Green pepper chopped
1 can tomatoe sauce or paste (I used paste)
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 cup water (if using paste may need more water)
8 tsp. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. chile powder
Salt and pepper to taste

Brown meat with onions and peppers. Add other ingredients stir and simmer until desired consistency or temperature is reached. Serve over homemade bread, eat and enjoy!!

Tip: No one likes reheated meat (at least I don't) so next time you have steaks or hamburgers on the grill, fajitas, roast or chops or any other meat and have some leftover try this...put it in a ziplock bag and seal it (do not vent it at all) put it in the microwave for what you normally would reheat a piece of meat, remove and enjoy delicious , juciy meat that tastes just like it did when it was originally cooked, no reheated meat taste at all!!! (This works best with just one or two servings)
