Good morning Stuarts Draft! I’m still doing Old School House Farmers Market posts. I feel like this new market is the best thing that’s happened around here all in a while. We only have 2 markets left, today and next Thursday. And it’s finally cool enough to really enjoy them (fingers crossed for no rain).
It’s cool enough to linger and learn about the businesses you are buying from. It’s more enjoyable to have an even longer chat with friends you run into. And I think I’ll be able to grab a snack and just enjoy the entertainment. The weekly entertainment has been first class (& local, by the way) and just an added perk EVERY week, but dang it’s been hot. Not so this week. Maybe take a chair and stay a while😊.
Draft resident John Goslin is playing for us this week. And I appreciate that. I appreciate Jordan Fust planning all of this, and I appreciate an accomplished, talented and well known musician like John coming down to play for us - because he, like me and many of you guys - thinks this is a really good thing for our community. John worked as the superintendent of Parks & Horticulture for the City of Waynesboro. He very well understands the dedication and work involved in a community event like this and is glad to participate. That’s a win for us😊!
So, brief info about John, although y’all probably know who he is. He played at one of the July Farmers Markets. John tells me that he’s been playing music for something like 55 years - since he was about 12 years old. He says it’s been a lifetime of pleasure….and anxiety 😂. (And yeah, he doesn’t really look anywhere old enough for all that🤷♀️). He enlisted in the military at 18 and played all through his service time. The Goslins purchased their home here in the Draft in 1992. He and his wife Donna are still happily living life over on the Old White Hill Rd❤️. I first became a fan of John’s when I heard him with Chris Woodson years ago. John and Chris played together for 34 years, before, sadly, Chris passed away in 2016.
These days, John mostly plays in a duo with Bill Yetzer. Bill works at Beverage Tractor and will be joining John at the market when he gets off work this evening. John is good, Bill is good - and together they are a REALLY good combination.
These guys play a hodgepodge of music. Country, folk, blues, rock. There will for sure be something you like! Catch John & Bill here in the Draft this afternoon. 4:00-7:00pm, 116 Draft Ave. If you’d like to get out and listen to them again after today, they’ll be at Blue Mountain Brewery next Friday and at Sunset Park on Sunday (the 31st) for the Kickin’ Back with Klines event. You can keep up with them on their page too.

I’d like to thank John for taking the time to chat with me earlier this week, and for sharing his talent with our community at the Old School House Farmers Market. Stop by and meet him this afternoon.
