I wasn't thrilled with the tomatoes last week, so hopefully double checking everything the day before will make it better this week. If you guys have concerns/worries over food, please let me know. I will get the food tomorrow early am, and have it ready hopefully before noon. Let me know if you are interested before 11 tonight. Should be in the usual price range.

Thanks,

Ok - here's the food that is cheap this week:

fuji apples
broccoli
blackberries
avocado
bananas
green beans or sno peas (you will get more green beans - more than 2 lbs vs 1 lb of snap peas)
cucumbers
grapes (red)
kiwi (might not include them, unless people want them)
lettuce (red leaf or romaine - what are people's preference?)
peaches or nectarines (preference?)
mini sweet peppers or red bell peppers (preference? red bell are cheaper)
zucchini
roma tomato

Price will depend on how many people we have and what people want, but should be in the $25 area per box. Let me know if you are interested by tonight.

Thanks!

Looks like I don't have numbers. I said midnight, but I think I'm going to go ahead and cancel this week. See you all next week! Sorry to anyone who was interested. Happy Spring Break!

03/29/2016

So here's what is cheap right now:

apples (fuji)
carrots (baby)
broccoli (crowns)
grapes (red)
kiwi
lettuce (romaine)
nectarines
sno or snap peas (which do people prefer - sno is cheaper)
pepper (red)
strawberries
plums (black)
spinach

Cabbage is also an option, if people would prefer it or want it in addition to everything else.

Let me know if you are interested before midnight tonight.

Food's Ready! A few notes, as usual...

No red bell peppers, sorry.

Bananas are pretty green this time, but that will just mean they will last longer. put them in a brown paper bag and they will ripen up quickly. they actually package them in brown paper on the journey from wherever they are grown - they all start out green.

Peaches are still a touch under-ripe, too. Leave them out to ripen up - brown paper bag them, and they will ripen even faster.

I'm leaving strawberries in my cooler so they stay nice, so don't forget them as you leave - 2 lbs each full box.

Also, grab one bag 5lb potatoes per full box - they are in a box close to the garage door/exit.

Also - there were some odd veggies leftover that didn't split well - each FULL box can grab one 'extra' (in box next to whiteboard).

Money in jar, as usual, and write down your name when you pick up! Checks in my name (Heidi Clarke) or cash in envelope with your name. Thanks!!

PM me if you need my address. You *can* come down the drive, there's room to turn around at the bottom (maybe wait a second if there's a lot of people down at the bottom).

strawberries (at least 2 lbs each)
yellow plums (didn't you guys love those last week!?)
red flame grapes
peaches
limes (maybe)
bananas
avocado
zucchini med
sno peas
potato red
yellow onions
red peppers
artichokes

Ok so, for people who are new to this:

Pick up is at my house (pm me if you need the address) , the boxes are in my garage. There will be envelopes for cash (write your name on the outside of the envelope). Checks and money in envelopes go in the mason jar on the step. All boxes are the same. If you are splitting a box, we have little boxes you can split your box up with by the door. I will leave you to figure out how to split it with your partner.

Side note: I wasn't terribly pleased with the green peppers, so every box has about 7 (small) good, firm quality ones, and then there is a box of extras that are a touch bendy. Grab a few of those if you want.

Also - I ordered a few extra strawberries to compensate if some were bad, but the strawberries were amazing this time (I should have ordered more!! I only ordered one lb each this time! :( ) Anyway, there are eight lbs extra, I believe. I took them out of the whole box total, so they are a dollar extra to the first people who speak for them.

Also - zuccs and blueberries were not in stock. I got tomatoes to make up for no zucc, but I couldn't figure out a good replacement for blueberries (should've gotten more strawberries!! Next time...)

Anyway, the total cost is $23 per box, $11.50 per half (unless you and your partner figured some other splitting out).

Also - I have a box for the missionaries. If everyone contributes one dollar extra we can give the whole box to them. (If you don't want to contribute, no worries, I understand. Maybe respond all to this thread if you plan on contributing so we can get a gauge on how much we're at.

Just for my benefit, if I don't have your number already, please send it to me. That way I can remind you to pick up if you forget!

Also - if you have too much celery or green peppers - these are easily frozen for use in stir fries and soups. Just fyi.

03/15/2016

here's what i just sent over to the produce place as a tentative list.

blueberries (12*1pt)
blackberries (12*6oz)
fuji eastern apples 12*3lb
bananas
broccoli crowns
celery (2 dz)
red flame grapes
kiwi 108 ct
romaine lettuce hearts
sugar snap peas
green peppers small
plum either red or yellow
strawberries (either 4 of the 2lbs or 4 of the 1 lbs, whichever is best quality)
zucchini med - 2 boxes

I'll let you know the final verdict as soon as possible - let me know who is interested. I will likely need to have groups of 12 for this batch, with the berry, lettuce and apple counts.
