🍎 Good morning, Gates County, and happy Friday before Labor Day! ☀️

The heat wave is still hanging on, but we are stocked and ready for your holiday weekend at The Veggie Wagon inside the Sunbury Mercantile, 11 NC 32 N. in Sunbury!

🥗 Fresh salads are stocked and ready to grab and go!

Because of this extreme heat, almost all of our fresh produce has been moved INSIDE the shop until things cool down a bit. And there is plenty to choose from!

🍎 Good morning, Gates County! Apple season has arrived at the Sunbury Mercantile! 🍎

All of our salads have been freshly restocked for today! The lineup includes:

And today marks the beginning of one of my favorite times of the year — APPLE SEASON! 🍎🍏

We have beautiful, fresh early-season apples straight from Wi******er, including Honeycrisp, Galas, Goldens, and Hudgins. They are crisp, fresh, beautiful, and absolutely delicious!

The store has also been fully restocked with plenty of good things for your weekend. Fresh peaches are back and safely tucked inside out of this heat, along with muscadine grapes, beautiful tomatoes, cantaloupes, broccoli, several varieties of potatoes, fall squash, and so much more.

Don’t forget the Seafood for your weekend! Tuna, salmon, grouper, shrimp, and bacon wrapped shrimp. Have all been restocked!

We are in that lovely little stretch of the year when summer begins crossing over into fall. ☀️🍂 We still have the beautiful produce of summer, but the apples and fall squash are starting to make their appearance. I love this time of year!

🍰 Today’s Sidekicks include a luscious Peanut Butter Turtle Cheesecake, German Chocolate Cake, Monster Cheesecake topped with fresh berries and whipped cream, and yogurt parfaits if you’re looking for something a little lighter.

🍓 Strawberry Chicken Salad — Our classic Veggie Wagon favorite! Grilled chicken, fresh strawberries, candied pecans, mozzarella balls, strawberry vinaigrette, and more.

🥬 Chicken Caesar — Crisp romaine, grilled chicken, Parmesan cheese, crunchy croutons, Parmesan crisps, onions on the side, and classic Caesar dressing.

🌻 The Sunbury — Grilled chicken, bacon, tomatoes, cucumbers, sunflower sprouts, roasted sunflower seeds, and more. Don’t forget to grab an avocado to dice up and put on top!

We’re beginning our big restock, and Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp have been added! They are easy, delicious, and perfect for the holiday weekend. You’ll also find shrimp, tuna, flounder, mahi, and salmon.

The fresh produce inside has been restocked, and there are watermelons out on the wagon. This extreme heat is taking a toll on some of our outdoor produce, but there is still plenty of fresh goodness waiting for you inside.

And y’all… try the apples! 🍎 Apple season is sneaking up on us, and they are getting GOOD.

Wagon truck located across the street in the bank parking lot and across the street from Napa in Sunbury is open. It is open every day just like before. The only difference is I am only stalking cantaloupe, corn watermelon, and tomatoes on the wagon. Have a great Sunday everyone.

We finally made it to the weekend, and The Veggie Wagon at 11 NC 32 N. in Sunbury will be open today! Come wander in, sample a few things, visit with a friend, and enjoy a little taste of what’s coming for fall. ❤️

🍞 TODAY IS A SAMPLING SATURDAY!
We’ll have samples of plenty of our fresh breads, various olive oils, cheeses, dips, and popcorn—and we may even have some cold apple c***r waiting for you. 🍎 Get ready, y’all… fall is coming! 🍁

🌾 AND WE HAVE A BRAND-NEW LOCAL BREAD! 🌾
I am SO excited about this one. A local bread maker is bringing us a wonderfully soft bread made with her own stone-ground flour.

And I dare say—it might actually be healthy AND it is probably one of the best breads I have ever eaten. 😂

The real test was Tom, my husband. He is strictly a white-loaf-bread kind of man. He tasted it, looked at me and said:

“This is the best bread I’ve ever eaten.”

Well, there you have it. 😂❤️ You simply need to try it!
