๐ฝ07/28/23 SOLD OUT of our corn for 2023๐ฝ
THANK YOU everyone for stopping at our corn stand this year. It was a tough season. Aside from the usual duties involved with planting, maintaining and harvesting we were faced with other trials. There was a late frost threatening our crop so we had to pull an overnighter to build fires to protect it. Next was a drought and we had to irrigate, which consumed a few weekends. After all that, then Mother Nature provided the rain, and a lot of it! ๐ I've never seen the field so muddy in July. I am thankful for the under 90 degree days that we usually encounter during corn season! ๐
Not looking for pity, just try appreciate your local farmer. Patronize them when you can. There is so much more that goes on behind the scenes than just the selling part. Why is our season short? Quite frankly, it's all that we care to handle. Everyone here has more than just a 40 hour week job normally, not including sweet corn. We hand pick every single ear. Being in our 50's, living with cancer and health issues, we need to draw a line. We love our customers and being able to provide fresh sweet corn that tastes delicious. We just can't do it all summer. Anyone looking for a dream job of picking corn and running it longer, shoot me a message. I'm all ears. No pun intended. Otherwise, as long as our health is good we will see you in July 2024, even if it's only for a few weeks. ๐
