The Proctor Farmers' Market provides locally grown produce, pasture raised meats, wild caught seafood, cheeses, eggs, fruit, flowers, plants, and so much more to the community on Saturdays throughout the year.

The market is a feast for the senses.

Fresh bread you can smell before you see it. Cherries begging for a taste test. Music drifting down the street. The snap of a fresh vegetable. The sizzle from a food vendor’s grill. Tables overflowing with color in every direction.

Some Saturdays are about checking things off a list.

This one is about wandering a little slower, discovering something new, and taking it all in.

It’s one of our favorite parts of the week. Seeing familiar faces. Hearing what’s new. Catching up with neighbors. Sharing the things we’ve worked so hard to grow, raise, make, and bring to market.

These two clips tell a story.

The first was captured in 2023, the second - February this year.

And wow, what a difference.

Sure, the crowd is bigger, but that’s only part of the story. What we’re really seeing is more people choosing local, more conversations between neighbors and growers, more families making the market part of their Saturday routine, and more support going straight to the farmers, makers, bakers, ranchers, and small businesses that keep our community vibrant.

Farmers markets don’t grow because of clever marketing. They grow because people keep showing up. Rain or shine. Week after week. Season after season.

Our long-time Treasurer is stepping down from the Board of Directors and as Chair of the Finance Committee. We are looking for a strategically minded individual to fill this important position.

The Role:
As Treasurer, you will be the financial guardian of our mission, serving both on the Board and as a member of the Executive Committee. This is a volunteer leadership position perfect for a finance professional looking to give back to community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor monthly financial reports and cash flow
• Lead annual budgeting with the Finance Committee
• Ensure timely tax filing (Form 990)
• Present financial updates at monthly Board meetings
• Finance Committee Chair
Qualifications:
• Background in Accounting, Finance, or Business
• Experience with nonprofit financial standards a plus
• Commitment to local foods and farmers markets preferred
• Strong communication skills for explaining financial concepts
Commitment:
• One virtual Board meeting per month
• Finance & Executive Committee meetings as needed
