The Meat Shop of Tacoma The Meat Shop of Tacoma is located on a nine-acre farm about ten miles south of Tacoma, Washington.

Permanently closed.

Bob and Lee Markholt moved there as boys 60 years ago, and soon began feeding cattle organically. The brothers started to feed cattle commercially 55 years ago, expanding as Bob's sons joined the crew, into custom cutting, poultry raising and curing meats. The Meat Shop of Tacoma was born in 1963 and expanded again with a full retail counter in 1972. Today, the Meat Shop is owned and operated by Lee and his daughter and staffed by a knowledgeable crew.

I'm having a hard time finding the words to tell everyone my Daddy & best friend Lee Markholt passed away. I just finally found my log-in info & I know we've been closed since 2012 but I wanted to let anyone know that is still here. I would be happy to share Daddy's Celebration of Life information with anyone that is interested.

Dad and I have been reflecting on all the good times we had with our customers/friends and their families and our employees and their families. It seems like it's not really Thanksgiving over here without seeing and visiting with all of you this week. We are thankful for knowing all of you and really miss everyone. Cheers to a thankful, blessed, and healthy Thanksgiving!!

We have some good news for those of you that want a smaller amount of our Organic Beef! Mt. View Meats will be selling them by the 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, or whole. So, lots of options. Also, their price points are very affordable!!

All products available are going to be sold at cost or well below cost these last four days. Our online store will only have the products available, pricing will not be the sale prices. It's just to time consuming for me to change everything when we are giving products away.

Our last week has finally arrived, our hours will be Wed-Fri from 1 to 6 and Saturday from 12 to 5. We will be having a final huge liquidation sale of all the stock left available, details for the sale will be posted later today.

Next week we will be reducing our hours from Wed. through Fri 1 to 6, Saturdays are still 10 to 5. Also, we are anticipating being open till mid August but will play that by ear based on stock. Of course you all will be the first to know!

We are working on brokering a deal with a local butcher shop to carry our Organic Beef by the cut this fall! I will keep you all posted if we can get this done!!! They still need to get Certified as an Organic Handler, and Organic Processor and of course we need to work out price points as well. Fingers crossed!!!
