Tamms Correctional Center The mission of Tamms is to improve the quality of life, safety and day-to-day operation of other Illinois Department of Corrections facilities.

On Feb. 23rd, during Gov. Quinn's 2013 budget address, he announced the proposed closure of Tamms Correctional Center. This page was created to spread the importance of Tamms, not only to the surrounding communities due to job loss, also and more importantly to IDOC as Tamms CC was created to maintain control throughout the prisons across Illinois.

I just signed a petition to The Illinois State House and The Illinois State Senate: Overcrowding and understaffing is a huge problem within the Illinois Department of Corrections. Tamms Correctional Center acted as a much needed safety valve for frontline workers as well as inmates.
