The Farmers' Daughter

The Farmers' Daughter A family farm located in Taylorsville, NC, where we grow strawberries, blueberries, and mixed vegetables. Est. 2008 We are here for so much more.

Plus, we have a Country Store on the farm that has hand dipped ice cream & deli. Not to be confused with any other "Farmer's Daughter". The Farmers' Daughter is a strawberry and mixed vegetable farm, in Taylorsville, NC. It has been owned and operated by Jason and Amy Douglas since 2008. We farm about 10 acres of our larger, 108-acre family farm. We also team up with our family farm, Morning Dew

Farms to provide individual, frozen cuts of our pastured beef. Our mission is to provide garden fresh produce and healthy beef to our community. We grow a variety of vegetables and practice succession planting to have a broader assortment of vegetables available longer than what would normally be expected in a home garden. We also support our local food system as well, by purchasing produce and dairy products from other local growers to compliment our own produce availability and give our shoppers a good variety of local products. We are here for the busy days when you just want to have BLTs for supper or want to throw some ground beef in the skillet for a quick recipe! We are here for your Sunday dinners/weekly produce shopping. We are here for the weekly meal preppers and home canners that need larger quantities of vegetables all at once. We are here for the strawberry customers that make strawberry jam once a year for their family or for Christmas presents. We are here for the cancer patient that can only eat tomatoes, due to chemo. We love our community! Where to find our farm products: Our produce is sold at our NC Certified Roadside Farm Market, our three satellite locations, and through our 75+ member Crop Share (CSA) program.

We are a week away from our Harvest Moon Picnic (Community Picnic), Saturday, September 19th starting at 5pm. What is our idea of Community? We believe that everyone that passes through our doors holds a special place at the table of our Community. We believe that we were put here, in this place to build relationships, strengthen families, help our neighbors and pray for those who need it. We do not discriminate in our Community. So, with that said, whether you shop with us now or you came to the old stand, or you haven’t even came yet,

We would like to cordially invite you to join us for a backyard picnic, Farmers’ Daughter style: bring a side dish or dessert, or something to play/pick, or just show up! We will provide meat and drinks.

Come make new connections or rekindle old ones, let the kids run and play while you enjoy the flavors of the harvest!

We will celebrate the harvest from 5-8pm, probably eat around 5:30, after we get everyone’s dishes set out.

We have been building our community since we opened 18 years ago! We have always wanted to do an “end of summer” picnic. So, on September 19th we are asking our community to join us for our first ever, Harvest Moon Picnic.

This is a FREE FAMILY EVENT. We will provide the meat (pork (Boston Butts) or venison roast or chicken tenders) and drinks (tea or water) for the meal. We are asking attendees to bring your favorite side dish or dessert OR something to pick/play for entertainment.

We will have the picnic out back at the playground, so the kids can run and play, while you enjoy fellowship! Share you stories, soak up others and get connected. Please RSVP by calling (828) 312-8137 or message us with a head count, so we can make sure to have enough meat for everyone. Hope to see you there!

Tonight is the night! Our Rook Club starts at 6pm. Come fellowship and learn to play (or get a refresher in) the card game, Rook. It is aptly named for the rook (Corvus frugilegus) is a large, highly social black bird belonging to the crow family! This is preferably an adult event, unless you have a teenager that knows how to play already.

You can RSVP by calling or texting (828) 312-8137. But, please just show up, even if you don’t RSVP. This is a free event. Bring a snack, cause the kitchen will closed so we can play!

Share please! We are hosting a Community Gift Card Drive for our friends and Alexander County neighbors the Clyde Herman family. They survived their recent house fire on Saturday, but lost everything!

The fire happened over the weekend, due to a lightning strike and the home was a complete loss within 7 minutes! Anita (daughter of Clyde resident and owner) said her best advice for anyone with the basement is to put a fire alarm in it! That is where the fire started. Luckily the five people in the home were able to get out before the fire took the house completely. The lost two family pets and everything they owned.

We will be collecting gift cards for restaurants (preferably Alexander County), food and clothing stores. Of course the local churches will be helping. But this is a way we can help right away. The family has asked to not have monetary donations and appreciates any help that you can give through this card drive. Thank you in advance!
