I still think chicken people are genuinely kind people. I have truly enjoyed meeting all the people I have met thru this business so far. I enjoy the pictures and conversations. Its something that has brought unexpected joy to my life. Kids learning to care for chickens is something I enjoy the most. I think it teaches them so many important things. Thank you to anyone who has given the hatchery a chance. I appreciate the kindness. I appreciate all of you! ❤️

🚨 The Mystery of the Dark Beaks: Are Our Ayam Cemanis Sneaking Around? 🤫🐔**
We’ve had a few folks reach out recently wondering if our Ayam Cemani rooster has been... *visiting* the Black Copper Maran hens. Our BCM chicks are hatching out with incredibly dark beaks, dark legs, and heavy down coloring—looking a little extra "goth" than what you might be used to! 🖤
We promise our biosecurity is locked down tight and our Ayam Cemani boy is staying exactly where he belongs. 🛑 Up-close, the difference in typical day-old chicks is easy to spot:
So why are our Marans hatching out so dark? It all comes down to **premium genetics**. 🧬✨
There is a massive difference between standard, "Americanized" Black Copper Marans and true, **imported French champion bloodlines** like the ones we breed here.
* **The Melanin Factor:** Original French lines carry much heavier melanin (dark pigment). In high-quality champion bloodlines, this often expresses itself in chicks as deeply dark beaks, heavily washed legs, and dark down.
* **Trust the Process:** Don’t worry! As these gorgeous babies hit maturity, that melanin shifts. They will develop their beautiful, vibrant red combs and wattles, clean yellow/pinkish foot soles (a dead giveaway they aren't Cemani mixes), and that rich, stunning copper feathering on the hackles.
When you buy from us, you aren't getting diluted genetics—you are getting the real-deal French heritage standard. They start out dark, but they grow into absolute royalty! 👑🥚
Drop a photo of your growing babies in the comments below—we’d love to see how those beautiful copper feathers are coming in! 👇
Here is how dark our hens can be before maturity.

We nurtured an ash tree on our knoll back to health after it suffered serious damage with large parts unable to grow leaves. Fortunately, being a thriving chicken farm, we leveraged our barn lime to create a revitalizing paste by mixing it with water, and filled in the damaged bark, and look at it now, a month later.
