🚨 The homeowner paid $58,200 to a contractor with 27 YEARS of experience and then discovered a cracked support post holding up the structure! 😱🪵
The owner says this discovery immediately raised concerns about safety, longevity, and construction standards. Seeing a load-bearing member split like this is enough to make anyone nervous. ⚠️🏠 After such a major investment, homeowners expect durable craftsmanship—not unexpected structural questions. Would you trust the contractor's explanation or demand corrective action immediately? 👇🔥

Our roof was completely redone only 7 months ago, and after the first heavy rain, we already have signs of leaking near a valley.
The contractor insists the installation is correct and keeps repeating that it’s “within code,” but seeing active moisture on a roof this new makes me feel like something was either missed or done improperly.
When I look at the valley detail, the flashing and shingle overlap seem questionable to me, especially for an area that handles such a high volume of water runoff.
I know valleys are one of the most critical parts of a roofing system, so I’m trying to figure out whether this looks like a normal install issue, poor workmanship, or something that should absolutely be corrected under warranty.
Would this concern you if it were your roof?

I had bids come in at $24k, $21k, and then one at $14k. The price gap was hard to ignore, so after researching the company and checking reviews, I decided to take the chance on the lower bid.
The roof is now finished and honestly I keep going back and forth between “wow I saved a ton of money” and “what corners got cut to make it this cheap?” 😂
I know the real answer probably comes years from now if leaks start showing up, but I’d really appreciate opinions from experienced roofers or contractors on how the install looks overall.
Does anything stand out as concerning, or does it actually look like decent work despite the lower price?

Hired a handyman to remove this half-wall and thought everything was moving forward smoothly. He quoted $900 for the project and requested a $500 deposit upfront.
He arrived, taped off the work area, set his drill down, and told me he needed to make a quick trip to the store for a tool blade. That was the last I saw of him.
Now my calls are going unanswered, messages aren't being returned, and the only thing left behind is his drill sitting on a shelf in my house. Needless to say, this project didn't go as planned.

Should I be concerned about this?
Having a new deck installed. They started today and I noticed this while looking it over. Is this cause for concern or not a big deal? The outside posts are notched like this but the beam sits in the void. On the center post, they put a block in to fill the void and sat the beam on top.
